1492, how many different
nations have claimed
Georgia as their own?”
The historically correct
In last week’s Baffler, Joe
asked which men served two
full terms as vice president
before going on serve as
president. The answer is
John Adams, Richard Nixon
and George H.W. Bush.
Getting it right were Jolene
Pierson, Betsy Bazemore,

Bible Quiz:
In celebration of the flow
ering trees that are begin
ning to brighten our land
scape, give the source of
these joyful verses: “For, 10,
the winter is past, the rain
is over and gone; The flow
ers appear on the earth; the
time of the singing of birds
is come, and the voice of the
turtle is heard in our land;
The fig tree putteth forth
her green figs, and the vines
with the tender grape give a
good smell. Arise, my love,
my fair one, and come
away.”
The scripturally savvy:
Terry Everett noted that
we’ve had this one before,
but it was a literary quiz the
first time. The poem quoted
was “The Destruction of
Sennacherib” by Lord
Byron. The Bible verses ref

19. Getting it right were
Terry, Jolene Pierson,Betsy
Bazemore, Laurie Jones,
Jim Worrall and Bill

Georgia Quiz
This week’s question is
this: Which of Georgia’s
signers of the Declaration of
Independence was born in
Georgia?
Georgia Experts:
Last week, we asked when
the Georgia General
Assembly ratified the 19th
Amendment, which gave
women the right to vote.
The answer was 1970. (The
amendment became part of
the U.S. Constitution in
1920, so women in Georgia
were already voting, but the
Assembly did finally get
around to ratifying it 50
years later.) Getting it right
were Betsy Bazemore,
Jolene Pierson,Laurie
Jones, Jim Worrall and Bill
Harrison.

A day in the life of 'General Hospital'
By TERRY MORROW
Scripps Howard News

I’m not a doctor, but I
played one on TV recently.
To get a better idea of what
it takes to mount a daily day
time drama - a worthwhile
exercise for someone who
writes about TV - I became
part of the cast of “General
Hospital” one morning.
By the end of it, I thought I
might need a doctor myself.
This is what I noticed first
about the 41-year-old soap:
It’s, well, an orderly place to
be. It is efficient, and, most of
all, quiet.
“Here, it’s a little bit
tighter (run) ship,” says
actress Kelly Monaco, who
came to “General Hospital,”
which airs at 3 p.m. week
days on ABC, after playing on
its spin-off “Port Charles.”
On the day I arrived, I was
rushed from a business office
to wardrobe and outfitted
with sneakers, scrubs and a
white jacket. My character’s
employee identification card
says I have brown hair, blue
eyes, weigh 169 pounds and
am 30 years old.
I’m actually 44, but, appar
ently, I can still play 30 in the
make-believe world. I go to
makeup, where my “shini
ness” is taken away.
And with that, the trans

I also notice that Port

gorgeous. I can only assume
my character has been bused
into town on some sort of
average-looking doctor swap,
kind of a less sexy “Doctors

Long before I get to the set

what about weather's extremes? Do you know
