Greene marks
35 years with
Perry FD
Perry Fire Chief Freddy Howell
began his speech something
like this: “35 years ago I was 6
years old, the president was
Richard Nixon, it was the pre
miere year of ‘Hee Haw’ and
‘Sesame Street,’ Apollo 11 and
man had landed on the moon,
and Earl Greene was beginning
his career at the Perry Fire
Department.” Green was pre
sented a plaque for his 35 years
of service to the city of Perry in
a ceremony. Council members
individually thanked Greene for
his service, describing him as an
asset to the community, prais
ing him for his dedication and
commitment to the department.
