WARNER ROBINS - After
trailing Upson-Lee 5-2 at the
half, Warner Robins came
back to earn a 5-5 tie in girls
soccer at Tanner Tuesday
night.
The Demonettes had
allowed only one goal in
their four victories, but soon
trailed 2-0 in the first 10
minutes of the match.

Smith’s two-run double, rallied for a 3-1 win at home.

Warner

It looked like it was going
to be a two-for-one day

Perry’s Corey Jones, who
had reached first after being
hit by a pitch and then moved
to second on a fielder’s choice,
scored as a result.
Smith made an error in
judgment. Smith suffered the
scowl of Eagles head coach
Kevin Kinsler.
“We practice that all the
time,” said Kinsler, whose
squad was beaten by the 10-

encounter with the Panthers
this year. “We even have a

He obviously didn’t and that
enabled the Panthers to take
a 1-0 lead heading into the

enough the Eagles’ half of the
inning started the same way.
Carter led off, was hit and

this case, however, was Perry
pitcher Shane Ashley.
He pitched well enough to
win and if not for Northside’s
Derek Bowen (more on him
later) he probably would
have.

Westfield’s Ciccarelli
elected to Hall of Fame

PERRY - Westfield had
one of its own named to
the Hall of Fame recently.
Wheeling Jesuit
University in Wheeling,
WV, announced that for

current Westfield math
teacher Jolene Ciccarelli
has been elected to the
school’s Athletics Hall of
Fame.
Back then she was Jolene
Krar, a power forward
from Fonthill, Ontario,
Canada.
“An uncle was a profes
sor at Wheeling,” Ciccarelli
said to explain how she
went from Canada to West
Virginia. She also said
Canadian high schools

recruiting. “My mom was
cutting out articles and
sending them to him. He
let the coach know about
me.”
And she let the world
know about her.
Demons' glass is half empty
George Brett once
said: “If a tie is
like kissing your
sister, losing is like kiss
ing your grandmother
with her teeth out.”
A great baseball player
he was, but I have to dis
agree.
Losing is bliss to a tie. A
loss can haunt you. A loss
can live with you forever.
But at least it’s finite. It’s
settled. It’s finished busi
ness.
A tie is like kissing
your sister (unless she’s
Angeline Jolie) and drink
ing your grandmother’s
used Polident water.
Case in point: Warner
Robins High School.
“You see that,” a
Demon player (preferring
to remain anonymous)
said to me recently while
pointing at a specific part
of his recently awarded
state championship ring.
“That’s always going to
bother me.”
