hold 'Money
Smart'
workshop
Wednesday

•Deposit Insurance Corp.
(FDIC) will hold “Money
Smart: An Adult Education
Program” from 9 a.m. to 4
p.m. Wednesday, April 6, at
the C.W. Pettigrew Farm
and Community Life Center
on campus.
“One of the major respon
sibilities of a specialist is to
provide staff development
and training to program
field staff,” said Mary Love
Sanford, FVSU extension
resource management spe
cialist. “We’re just aligning
what we’re doing with the
mission of Cooperative
Extension and that is pro
viding training free of
charge as a community out
reach.”
FDIC Regional
Community Affairs Officer
Thomas Stokes will present
the workshop along with
Consumer Affairs Specialist
Glenda R. Freeman. The
workshop will assist adults
outside the financial main
stream in enhancing their
money skills and creating
positive banking relation
ships. Topics that will be
covered include building
financial knowledge, devel
oping financial confidence
and using banking services
effectively.
The registration fee is

promoted to
senior

MACON - Byron Georgia Air
National Guardsman Glenda M,
Manning, a 28-year veteran of the
202nd Engineering Installation
Squadron of the Georgia Air National
Guard, was promoted to the rank of sen
ior master sergeant at military cere
monies in March at the Macon-based
Air National Guard unit. Manning is
the Non-commissioned Officer in
Charge of the Personnel Section of the
150-person unit.
Manning was only the second woman
to enlist in the 202E1S in Macon in
1977, following her sister’s enlistment.
Manning comes from a large military
family including five brothers and two
sisters, all of whom have served or are
still serving in the military. Manning is
a full-time employee of the 202nd.
