Rumsfeld supports longer tours, careers

Secretary Donald Rumsfeld said he
would like to see sweeping changes
to the military services’ personnel
systems.
In particular, Rumsfeld said, he
would like to do away with the sys
tem that forces service members out

two weeks.
“It’s amazing what a
bunch of old folks can do,”
said Carol Harris, from
Livingston, Texas. She was
one of 18 volunteers from
RV Caravaners, the Habitat
for Humanity Chapter from
the Family Motor Coach
Association, who donated
two weeks of their time and
labor to the Houston County
Habitat for Humanity.
“This is our eighth
house,” she said.
Team Leader Bobby
Mangum from San Antonio,
Texas, said “everybody can
do something, of
skill level or ability.”
He noted Harris just had
surgery on her finger and
can’t use a hammer.
“She’s running errands,
doing go-fer work, operating
the saw,” Mangum said.

first year here, but the

The renovations will begin in the Career and Technology building and
include an expanded media center, renovations to the ninth-grade
Tabor Academy, social studies and English halls, and the lunchroom.

“Why would we do that?” he said.
“Why wouldn’t we want that person
around, and the confidence and
knowledge and experience” the indi
vidual brings to the table?

a dispute over rezoning a piece of
residential property along Perry
Parkway.
The Planning Commission voted

win the approval of the Perry City
Council, which will decide the issue
