Davison’s first attempt at
finding cleaning magic was
n’t a rousing success.
“I learned pretty quickly
that you’ve got to mix chem
icals in a certain order or
you won’t end up with any
thing.”
After several failed
attempts to find a cheap
replacement for the chemi
cals he used every day in his
power-washing business,
Davison and his chemist
friend Cory Hammock dis
covered a multi-use odor
remover that became the
flagship product of what is
now a multimillion-dollar
corporation.
Davison’s company, Clean
Control, is based in Warner
Robins and manufactures a
variety of cleaning supplies
for everything from cars to
backyard grills. Odoßan, the
air freshener, odor remover
and disinfectant Davison
and Hammock first devel
oped, can be found at every
Sam’s Club in the United
States and is distributed in
Canada and Mexico. But
Davison’s company contin
ues to grow.
Last week, Wal-Mart offi
cials agreed to buy several of
Clean Control’s products for
their Georgia stores.
Davison said that Wal-Mart

admissions.
To prepare, Williams
attended a countywide SAT
workshop held at Houston
County High School.
She said the workshop
helped her with the gram
mar and reading compre
hension portions on the
exam. At the workshop, she
was given workbooks, which
she used to study for the
test.
“The improvements made
to the test are good, but the
time and length could be
improved, Williams said. “I
would shorten it. The test
ing time was longer because
test administrators had to
pass out and collect test
booklets.”
The SAT now takes three
hours and 45 minutes, as
opposed to two hours and 30
minutes before the format
was revamped.
Dr. Karen Michael, an
assistant professor at
Mercer University’s Tift
College of Education, said
she thinks the College Board
created some positive and
important improvements to
the SAT.
Michael completed her
dissertation on the fifth
grade standardized writing
test and served on testing
committees in Gwinnett
County, where she was a
teacher.
“The analogy portion of

‘We’re finally being recog
nized as a brand,” Davison
said. “We get calls every
week from across the coun
try from people who can’t
understand why our prod
ucts aren’t in Wal-Mart
when they could find them
in Sam’s.”
Seeing his products in
Wal-Mart stores is vindica
tion for Davison, who said
he spent 14 years trying to
convince the company to
buy his products.
But adversity is nothing
new to the Warner Robins
entrepreneur. In 1989, one
of his employees was injured
on the job and Davison dis
covered too late that his
insurance had expired. He
was forced to declare bank
ruptcy and ended up selling
his power-washing business,
Mobile Wash of America, in
1990.
But Davison did not give
up. He soon formed Clean
Control and tried tirelessly
to convince Sam’s Club to
buy his cleaning products.
Sam’s Club officials were
reluctant to sell his prod
ucts, but Davison was per
sistent.
“I kept calling and calling,
and eventually they gave
up,” he said. “They basically

Williams said the test is in
no way a comparison to the
Georgia High School
Graduation Test.
Houston County students
tested for the Georgia High
School Graduation Test in
March.
“I had just taken the grad
uation test and it was much
easier than this,” she said.
“The test isn’t alike at all.
Even the practice test for
the SAT was harder.”
She also said taking
their changes.”
The new agreement,
Walker explained, is “we’ll
pay for what we’ll pay for
and they pay for costs not in
the original design.”
Cowart proposed it with a

exceed SIOO,OOO. Walker

By 1995, Clean Control
products were in every
Sam’s Club in the United
States. Now, Davison’s prod
ucts are in 552 Sam’s Club
stores in the U.S. and
Mexico. Clean Control’s
60,000-square-foot ware
house and distribution cen
ter pumps out 30,000 gal
lons of chemicals per day
and provides jobs for more
than 100 people locally.
But Davison said his com
pany will continue to
expand. Clean Control’s
product lines include car
windshield bug removers,
dish detergents, awning
cleaners for RVs, and glass
cleaners, among several oth
ers. Clean Control also bot
tles chemicals for Mohawk
and Sysco, two nationally
recognized companies.
Davison said his company is
working with a New-Jersey
based company to sell urinal
cakes and toilet drop-ins
that will feature the compa
ny’s Odoßan formula.
“We’re always getting big
ger,” Davison said. “We
don’t have enough space

Advanced Placement cours
es made her more prepared
for this exam.
“I am taking AP U.S. his
tory now, and I plan on tak
ing more classes as they are
offered at Perry High,”
Williams said.
Williams said the most dif
ficult portion of the test for
her was the math portion.
“I have good math teach
ers - it’s just that math is
my weaker area,” she said.
The math portion includes
exponential growth,
absolute value, functional
notation and negative and
fractional exponents - all
problems that should be
commonplace in any third
year college preparatory
math class.
Williams offers some
words of advice for students
preparing to take the test
soon.
“Sleep is important,” she
said. “Remember to try and
stay focused because this
test is serious. Students
should practice and use SAT
workbooks that are avail
able. Students should also
attend workshops and take
practice SAT exams that are
on time limits like the test. I
told myself to try and be
calm, because taking this
test is getting me where I
want to be.”
Where Williams wants to
be is at the University of
Georgia majoring in veteri
nary science.
who will have to come up
with a cost estimate for the
project, as the city has never
done one on the project with
the changes.
The action was taken at
Thursday’s work session
because, Walker explained,
“Zorn wants to send it back
to Arkansas and wants to be
in a position to close on
Monday at noon.”
