Kingston seeks applicants to U.S. service academies

WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S.
Rep. Jack Kingston (R-Ga.) is
now accepting applications for
nominations to the four U.S.
service academies for classes
that enter in the summer of
2006.
“I urge young men and
women who are interested in
attending the Air Force
Academy in Colorado Springs,
the U.S. Military Academy at
West Point, the Naval
Academy at Annapolis or the
Merchant Marine Academy at
Kings Point, to contact my
office as soon as possible for a
nomination application pack

PERRY - The Houston
County Board of Education
recently appointed Anthony
Lunceford as principal of
Lindsey Elementary School.
Lunceford will replace Dr.
Ruth O’Dell, who has
accepted a position at the
central office as assistant
superintendent of student
services.
Lunceford currently
serves as the assistant prin
cipal for Warner Robins
High School. Previously he
also served at Tabor Middle
School as assistant principal
and Bonaire Middle School
as athletic director. While at
Bonaire Middle, he was
named the 1997 Teacher of
the Year. Other service
emy entrance requirements
will be invited to personal
interviews later this year, con
ducted by the Service
Academy Advisory Board he
has established to help make
the final selections. He added
that the academy nomina
tions are based on academic
achievement in high school,
including grade point average,
class standing, and scores on
the SAT or ACT.
Demonstrated leadership
potential in school and com
munity activities as well as
motivation, physical fitness
and personal recommenda
tions are also considered.
“Applicants must be U.S.
citizens, legal residents of the
First Congressional District,
includes physical education
teacher and coach at both
Warner Robins Middle and
Bonaire Elementary.
His degrees include:
• education specialist in
leadership and administra
tion, Georgia College and
State University;
• master’s in health/physical
education, Georgia
Southwestern; and
• bachelor’s in health/physi
cal education, Georgia
College.
Lunceford is a 1979 gradu
ate of Warner Robins High
School. He is married to
Sharon Lunceford, who also
works for the system, and
has two children, Beau and
Kasey. His parents are Butch
and Sandra Lunceford.

Watch hosted a potluck
dinner recently in the
Eagle Springs Community
Center. Mike Smith, chief
of the Eagle Springs
Neighborhood Watch on
Patrol, was the emcee for
the program.
Thirty-five residents and
guests, including
Centerville Police Chief
Ernie Pardo, attended this
social gathering and citi
zen recognition event.
