were engaged on Saturday,
February 12, 2005.
The wedding ceremony
will take place on Saturday,
; Feb. 18, 2006.
The bride-to-be is the
daughter of Doris Arvelo of
Columbia, S.C., and the late
Michael Arvelo. She is a
1996 graduate of St.
Augustine’s College and a
1998 graduate of Old
Dominion University, where
she received a master of
urban studies degree. She is
currently completing her
doctorate in urban educa
tional leadership and policy
at Clark Atlanta University.
She lives in Macon where
she serves as executive
director of a national non
profit subsidiary, Prevent
Child Abuse Heart of
Georgia. She is an executive
member of the Macon-Bibb
Workforce Investment
Board, a member of the
Macon Chapter of the Links
Inc. and a 2004 graduate of
Leadership Macon. She is

The bride-elect is the
granddaughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Luke Blackburn of
Havana, Fla. and Mr. and
active in her community
and her church home, the
Temple of Miracles Worship
Center in Warner Robins.
The groom-to-be is a
native of Perry, and is the
son of Robert and Gaynell
Lumpkin. He is a 1993 grad
uate of Morehouse College
and a 2000 graduate of
Morehouse School of
Medicine, where he received
a master of public health
degree. He holds member
ships with the National
Rural Health Association,
the Crossroads Civitans
Club and the Perry Area
Chamber of Commerce,
where he serves as chair
man-elect. He is also a
member of the board of
directors for the
Community Health
Outreach Center, and the
Georgia Rural Health
Association. He serves as
the director of Surgical
Services at the Perry
Hospital, and is an active
member of St. James
Christian Methodist
Episcopal Church in Perry.
Mrs. Leo Kelly of Perry. A
2000 graduate of Perry High
School, she received a bache
lor’s degree in marketing
from Florida State
University n 2004. She is
employed by Bibb
Distributing in Macon.
The groom-elect is a 1993
graduate of Robert F.
Monroe School in Quincy,
Fla., and received his bache
lor’s and master’s degree in
mechanical engineering
from Florida A&M
University in 2004. He is
employed by Graphic
Packaging in Perry.
