• The 13th annual National
Association of Letter Carriers
Food Drive, the largest one-day
food drive in the nation will be
held. Letter carriers will collect
non-perishable food donations
left by mailboxes and in post
offices and deliver them to local
community food banks, pantries
and shelters. All citizens need to
do is to place a box or can of
non-perishable food next to their
mailbox before their letter carrier
delivers mail. • The Navy
Seabee Veterans of America will
hold its monthly meeting. All
Seabee veterans are invited to
attend. Wives are included. The
Seabees' meeting is held the
second Saturday of each month.

Man wanted
for attempts
WARNER ROBINS -
Police are looking for a man
who demanded money from
store clerks at two locations
on Friday evening.
According to Warner
Robins Police, the suspect
wandered around the
Watson Boulevard Dollar
General waiting for cus
tomers to leave and when
there were no other cus
tomers in the store
approached the clerk and
demanded money. When she
refused, he left on foot head
ing south on Brady Drive
about 5:25 p.m. Friday.
The Houston County
Sheriffs Department is
investigating a similar inci
dent a short time later on
Brady Drive. In both cases,

MOZELLE RAPE LOWE
KATHLEEN - Mozelle Rape Lowe, 94, passed away on
Thursday, May 5, 2005, at Perry Hospital. Services will be
held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 10 (TODAY), at the Chapel of
McCullough Funeral Home, with interment following in
Centerville Cemetery. Visitation was from 7 until 9 p.m.
Monday, May 9, at McCullough Funeral Home. In lieu of
flowers, the family request donations be made to First
Baptist Church of Kathleen Building Fund, 103 Bear
Branch Road, Kathleen, GA 31047.
Lowe was born May 8, 1910, to the late Silas Milton and
Sarah Lucia Rape. A native of Houston County, Lowe was a
member of Centerville Baptist Church and attended First
Baptist Church of Kathleen. Prior to her retirement, she
was employed by Winn Dixie, where she worked in the Meat
Department. Preceding her in death were her husband of 24
years, George Washington Lowe, four sisters and one broth
er.
Survivors include her son, William G. Lowe Sr. of
Kathleen; 11 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren and
nine great-great-grandchildren.

Kayaking down the Ocmulgee

Richard Grove, a 57-year-old, semi-retired remodeling
contractor from Cumming, stopped at Knowles Landing
along the Ocmulgee River at the Houston County line
this week. Grove is kayaking 512 miles from Stone
Mountain to the Atlantic Ocean, and brought his own
food and water for the trip. Grove is raising money for the
Georgia Diabetes Research
Foundation.

during the attempted rob
beries and there were no
injuries, according to police.
The suspect is described
as a black man between 35
and 45 years old with a
beard and mustache. He is
between 5-feet-8 and 6 feet
tall and wore a gray long
sleeved shirt, dark pants
and a dark dew rag.
The charges could include
criminal attempt to commit
robbery by intimidation.
