Safety checkpoints net arrests

Deputies set up safety
checkpoints over the week
end at Elaine Drive and
Elaine Court, Brantley Road
at Benjamin Road, and
Elberta Road at Story Road,
making numerous arrests
for unlicensed drivers seat
belt violations and a couple
of open container violations:
• Johnny Lee Fort, 42,
Macon, and Felton Lee King
Jr., 30, were arrested at
12:30 a.m. Monday at the
Elberta and Story roads
checkpoint for possession of
marijuana with intent to
distribute. Deputies report
edly noticed the vehicle
moving very slowly and the
passenger moving around a
lot, and smoke and a strong
odor of marijuana coming
from the vehicle as they
approached. The deputy also
reportedly .observed the tag
light was not working and
the driver was wearing dark
sunglasses.
As the deputy looked
inside the car, he reportedly
observed a green, leafy sub
stance all over the front of
the passenger’s shirt and
lap. The driver reportedly
said he didn't “smoke weed”
and no one has smoked weed
in this car.
The passenger reportedly
said “I’m not going to tell
you a lie, officer - I just
threw a joint out the win
dow as we were pulling up to
the road check.” The pas
senger also reportedly said
he was smoking as they
turned on Elberta and said

Pedestrian dies after accident

Jacqueline Renell Brown,
50, 114 Sidney Hicks Road,
Warner Robins, was killed
Friday after being stuck by a
motorcycle and a car on
South Davis Drive.
According to police
reports, based on evidence
on the scene and driver
statements, the motorcycle
and car were traveling
northbound on South Davis
Drive, and Brown was walk
ing west from Clay Street
across South Davis when
she was struck by the
motorcycle in the left lane.
As she lay in the roadway,
she was struck by the car.
She reportedly was not

substance. The passenger
immediately said “that’s it,”
according to reports. He was
placed into custody and
deputies found a clear bag
containing a green, leafy
substance in his right front
pants pocket. A search of the
driver’s person reportedly
found two small, clear blue
plastic bags containing a
green, leafy substance inside
his pants pocket and a
Swisher blunt as well.
The driver, Fort, reported
ly said, “I love smoking mar
ijuana, but I don’t sell
drugs,” as he was being
searched. The deputy
noticed both had large
amount of cash on their per
sons.
A search of the car found a
brown bag wedged between
the center console and front
passenger’s seat containing
six clear bags of green leafy
substance. Inside the dri
ver’s door panel, deputies
reportedly found 14 small
empty clear plastic bags.
Fort was additionally
charged with the tag light
violation, and King with lit
tering. Their cash, sll4
from the passenger and
$341 from the driver, was
placed into evidence.

Police responded to the
accident call about 8:58 p.m.
Friday, to reportedly find
her lying in the inside lane,
with severe injuries to her
extremities and black marks
across her torso. She was
identified from documents
in her purse, and an eyewit
ness who approached police
and said Brown had just left
her home where they had
been drinking.
There were reportedly no
signs of breathing or a pulse
from Brown and she was
pronounced dead on the
scene by Deputy Coroner
Andrew Lyles.

was arrested Friday for an
alleged July 26, 2004, false
report of a crime and insur
ance fraud against GEICO.
He was apprehended on
base by police while at work
with 116th Air Control
Wing.

from a Duskmore Drive
yard.
On Saturday, person(s)
unknown knocked a
Northlake Drive resident’s
mailbox off the post.
Bottomed out
On Saturday, a Houston
Lake Road resident reported
he pulled out of his mom’s
driveway and the vehicle
bottomed out, damaging the
2001 Mercedes Benz. The
road is under construction
and there is a big drop at the
beginning of the driveway.
Turn the

Clayton Ted Brantley, 18,
impact , and was transported
to Houston Medical Center
for treatment. The motorcy
cle stopped on its side near
the intersection with
Beatrice Drive.
Citations were not issued
at the scene but may be
pending the investigation,
according to police reports,
against the drivers of the
motorcycle and the car, a
Nissan 300 ZX.
