instructors teach the same

Clark wants his program
to be accessible to any
one. The cost for MITA’s
juniors program is $175 a
month or SSO a week for
the High Performance
Academy. It meets Monday
and Wednesday from 7 to 9
p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. to
noon.
The Intermediate
Fundamental Class meets
Sunday 2-3:30 p.m. at a cost
of $5 per week.
Matchpoint’s Beginner
Fundamental Class trains
Saturday 1-2 p.m. at $lO per
session.
Junior private lessons
with any of the coaches are
S4O per lesson. The academy
session fee is sls per lesson.
Adults can attend Skills
and Drills Tuesdays 9-10:30
a.m. for $lO per week and
also get private lessons at
S4O per session.
Again, the academy ses
sion fee is sls.
“We try to give a lot back
to the program,” Clark said.
“I string rackets and donate
tournament fees for some of
my players who can’t afford
it. It’s about giving kids a
chance to get better.”
As the word of Clark’s
program has spread, he has
been invited to help at such
venues as Bleckley High
School.
At Matchpoint, Clark has

and one, Alyse Bailey earned
a tennis scholarship from
Florida A&M University.
“We go to tournaments
year round,” Clark said,
“but the busiest season is in
the summer.”
Clark’s goal is to bring
tennis to anyone who wants
to learn.

upon myself to run it down
and hit it.
Needless to say, I did hit
the ball. However, in my
haste, I grossly overestimat
ed my ability to stop in the
shoes that I was wearing,
which resulted in my run
ning smack into the fence
and my right foot getting
lodged in a way that defied
the laws of physics under
neath the court fence.
After spending as much
energy freeing myself as
I had on the previous 10
points combined, I finally
pulled it loose.
Despite all of my short
comings, I actually think I
am going to take up ten
nis as a hobby. Please hold
a spot open for me in the
emergency room.
