Many children have read the book “Alex and the Amazing Lemonade Stand,” written by Liz, Jay and Alex Scott. Inspired and empow ered by Alex’s example, many children asked their parents to help them set up an “Alex’s Lemonade Stand” so they too could help Alex realize her dream of finding a cure for childhood cancer. “The simple concept of ‘fighting childhood cancer, one cup at a time’ through a lemonade stand gives peo ple, especially children, the opportunity to organize and raise money for childhood cancer,” said Mary Jane Kinnas, one of the volun teers for the local event. “We all know children right here in our community who are fighting cancer right now or have battled cancer, and the Alex’s Lemonade Stand gives all of us and our chil dren a way to keep working toward a cure.” For more information about the local Alex’s Lemonade Stands in Perry and Warner Robins, please call (478) 542-7945.
