Warner Robins High School
will host the Middle Georgia
Cross County Summer Series
Thursday (3,000 meters), July
7 (4,000 meters) and 21 (5,000
meters on the course behind
Pearl Stephens Elementary
School.
The cost for each race is $5
and registration can be made
the day of. The venue is open
to all. Call David Erpelding at

Northslde conches to
hold wrestling camp
Northside wrestling head
coach Dan Kelly and members
of his staff will be holding the
Triple Option Wrestling camp
for those in grades 7-12, June
27-30 at First Presbyterian
Day School in Macon.
The camp will target three
levels of wrestling: Neutral,
top and bottom.
The cost is SIOO and the
camp will run daily from 9
a.m.-4 p.m. Contact Kelly at

Northslde to host
softball camp
Northside High will be offer
ing a softball camp for girls,
ages 5-12. The dates are June
20-23, from 9 a.m.-noon.

is $55.
Sapp taking applications
for baseball camp
The 25th Annual Robert
Sapp baseball camp is cur
rently accepting applications
for its summer session June
20-24 at Rozar Park in Perry.
The camp is scheduled to
run from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. each
day and is for boys 7-14. The
fee is slls with team rates
available ($lO discount for five
or more boys from one sum
mer league).
Sapp will be the lead instruc
tor, but once again Andy
Gentry, Houston County High
School’s head baseball coach,
will be assistant director.
According to the camp bro
chure, fundamentals, game
competition, videos, lectures
and demonstrations will be
part of the agenda.

International City Raceway Motocross Park takes flight

Folks who like to
ride motorcycles,
like to get dirty
and style while they do
it, need to check out the
International City Raceway
Motocross Park at the old
fairgrounds.
Run by Johnny Britt and
Phil LeFrancois, the race
way is designed for dirt bik
ers.
“We’re in it for the fam
ily,” Britt said. “If you look
around out here, there are
RVs parked with whole
families coming. Maybe
only one person rides, but
the whole family has fun.”
The original track at
the fairgrounds closed
September 2003, but Britt
and LeFrancois reopened in
July 2005 and held their
first race last February.
Now the track hosts races
bimonthly, usually spon
sored by Town and County

When the track isn’t
hosting racing, it is open
for practice. That’s when
pleasure riders have their
fun.
Shawn Biron brings his
family out for racing. He
used to ride competitively
until an injury forced him
to stop. Now his 16-year
old son Ben and 8-year-old
daughter Jennifer compete.
Jennifer was due to ride
her first race last Saturday.

Riley, Beers contend at Sectional qualifying

Mary Riley of Perry and
Jackie Beers of Bonaire
were among those listed in
the field to tee off Monday
at The Oaks Course in
Covington in Sectional
qualifying for the 2005 U.S.
Women’s Amateur Public
Links Championship.
The 18-hole qualifier,
which is conducted by
the Georgia State Golf
Association, is one of 38
sectional qualifiers being
held across the country,
June 4-18. There are 28
players vying for five spots
into the championship

weekend.
The tourney, which
began Wednesday and ran
through Saturday, featured
not only host Perry, but also
Warner Robins, Northside,
Houston County and
Westfield. And, each school
had two teams represent
ed in both the varsity and
junior varsity.

Amateur Public Links
Championship will be held
at Swope Memorial Golf
Course in Kansas City, Mo.,
