BERT BIVINS JR.
MACON - Bert Bivins Jr. died Saturday, June 11, 2005.
Service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, June 16, 2005, at Mt.
Nebo Primitive Baptist Church with burial in the church
cemetery.
It is with precious memories that we reflect over the life
of our loved one, Mr. Bert Bivins Jr.
Bert Jr., affectionately known as Lil Buddy and Uncle,
was bom March 22, 1924, to the parentage of Bert Bivins
Sr. and Carrie Lou Bivins. He was the youngest child and
only son bom to his parents. All of his siblings except one
preceded him in death: Minnie Bivins Kaigler, Claudie Lee
Bivins Lundy, Ella Bivins Holiday, Louise Bivins Polo and
Ethel Bivins Robinson.
Bert received his early education at Kings Chapel School
in Houston County. He joined Mt. Nebo Primitive Baptist
Church at an early age. During his early adult life he met
and married the late Mrs. Hester Lou Newberry Bivins. To
this union seven children were bom.
Bert’s life took many turns. He left Houston County and
the Middle Georgia area to move to Trenton, N. J. As he set
tled in Trenton, he joined Beauty Grove Primitive Baptist
Church. He served as church treasurer and deacon for over
50 years.
By trade, he worked at the former American Biltrite
Company. In 1999 he retired after working for over 40
years. Bert’s dream was one day to move back to Georgia to
be near his children.
Following his retirement, Bert Jr. relocated back to the
Middle Georgia area and set up residence in Warner Robins.
Not only did he take care of his physical needs, he made
sure that his spiritual needs were met. Bert reclaimed his
roots at Mt. Nebo Primitive Baptist Church. He served
faithfully until his health declined.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his children, Bert
(Barbara) Bivins 111, Thelma Bivins Dillard, James (Linda)
Bivins and Larry Bivins, all of Macon, Shirley Bivins of
Warner Robins, Frank Bivins of Flint, Mich., and Sidney
Bivins of Brazil, South America; grandchildren, Cindy Ann
(Chris) Battle, Cartese Dillard, Belinda Bivins, Bert Bivins
iy all of Macon, Ken Bivins of Atlanta, Tarik Williams and

Cleveland, Ohio; nine great-grandchildren; one sister,
Annie Pearl Jones of Fort Valley; devoted nephews and
nieces including Wilson (Dorothy) Robinson of Warner
Robins, and Georgia Mae Holiday of Perry; a godson;
numerous cousins; a host of other relatives and friends.
The family can be reached at the home of Thelma Bivins-
Dillard, 290 Rogers Ave., Macon.
Richardson Funeral Home, Perry.
