eight years of military service, is the
son of H.S. Cash of Kathleen.
He graduated in 1995 from
Houston County High School, and
received an associate degree in

College, Milledgeville. He earned a
bachelor’s degree in 2002 from
Macon State College

tendent, is the son of Elois E.
Durham of Perry.

Wade H. Franklin
Navy Ensign Wade H. Franklin,
son of Carrie W. Franklin of Perry,
and James D. Franklin of Eufaula,
Ala., recently graduated from the
United States Naval Academy in
Annapolis, Md., and was commis
sioned to his current rank in the U.S.
Navy.
Franklin successfully completed
four years of intensive academic,
physical and professional training,
resulting in a bachelor's degree with
a major in oceanography. As a grad
uate of the Naval Academy, Franklin
completed a four-year, total-immer
sion program where a strong, bal
anced academic program focused
on the educational needs of the
Navy and Marine Corps, is superim
posed on a strict, professional mili
tary training environment emphasiz
ing the development of leadership
skills.
Considered one of the top institu
tions in the country, the U.S. Naval
Academy was founded in 1845. The
Naval Academy has graduated more
than 60,000 men and women. Its
graduates have included 4, 000
admirals and generals, one presi
dent, 200 members of Congress,

Roderick J. Harris
Navy Chief Petty Officer Roderick
J. Harris, son of Johnnie L. Harris of
Warner Robins, Ga., recently partici
pated in exercise Talisman Saber in
eastern Australia while assigned to
the amphibious command ship USS
Blue Ridge, homeported in
Yokosuka, Japan.
The exercise is the first of a bien
neal series of exercises aimed at fur
ther developing and enhancing the
defense relationships between the
United States and Australia and
focused on crisis action planning
and execution of contingency
response operations.
Harris is one of more than 11,000
United States and 6, 000 Australian
personnel from all branches of the
Armed Forces participating in the
exercise.
USS Blue Ridge is the flagship of
Commander, U.S. 7th Fleet and
serves as a seagoing command
and-control center for naval and joint
commanders during peacetime or
conflict.
Harris is a 1991 graduate of
Warner Robins High School, and
