cross country series
Warner Robins High School
will host the Middle Georgia
Cross County Summer Series
July 7 (4,000 meters) and 21
(5,000 meters on the course
behind Pearl Stephens
Elementary School.
The cost for each race is $5
and registration can be made

Northside coaches to
hold wrestling camp
Northside wrestling head
coach Dan Kelly and mem
bers of his staff will be hold
ing the Triple Option Wrestling
camp for those in grades 7-12,
Monday through Thursday at
First Presbyterian Day School
in Macon.
The camp will target three
levels of wrestling: Neutral, top
and bottom. The cost is SIOO
and the camp will run daily
from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Contact

softball camp
The Higher Ground softball
camp will be held Monday-
Wednesday in Warner Robins
for those 8 and older.

WR Roc sets tootball
registration dates
The Warner Robins
Recreation Department is
scheduled to begin registration
for its youth football and cheer
leading program July 16 from 8
a.m. until 1 p.m.
Registration will continue
the following week, July 18-22,
Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.
to 5 p.m. until all of the leagues
are filled. The program is for
boys and girls ages 5 to 12.
Children registering for foot
ball will be required to submit
their weight at the time of reg
istration.
Parents need to bring their
children's birth certificates and
participation feet with them
when they register their chil
dren.
Each child who signs up for
football will be issued a helmet,
a pair of shoulder pads, two
pants with pads and a football
jersey. Each child who signs for
cheerleading will be issued a
cheerleading uniform and a set
of pom-poms.
For football, the cost per child
is SSO for city, $lO3 for county
and $177 for out of county. For
cheerleading, the cost per child
is $75 for city, SIOO for county
and $l2O for out of county.

Gospelettes win battle among their fellowship
Chargers, Harvesters rally to earn
finals berth in softball tournament

It was semifinals night
at Peavy Park in the
Warner Robins Recreation
Department Church League
softball tournament.
Although there were a
couple of interesting match
ups in the winners’ bracket,
from a fan’s point of view
the losers’ bracket game
between the Gospelettes and
the Lady Judges was also
interesting because not only
were the teams from the
same church, First Baptist,
but families played on both
teams.
“It’s one of our silence
days,” said Judy Bundick
of the Gospelettes, whose
daughter Ayesha plays for
the Lady Judges.

amateur Sectional qualifying

those competing Monday
at Chapel Hills Golf Club
in Douglasville in Sectional
qualifying for the 2005
U.S. Women’s Amateur
Championship
The 18-hole qualifier,
which is being conducted
by the Georgia State Golf
Association, is one of 18
sectional qualifiers being
held across the country
between Monday and July
6. There are 69 players
vying for nine spots into
the championship field
of 156 players at Chapel
Hills. Two alternate posi
tions will also be deter
mined.

On this night, the
Gospelettes had the last
word. They defeated the
Lady Judges 18-3 in four
innings.
They took advantage of a
10-run third inning to break
up what was up until then a
3-1 game.
The contest ended early
under the 15-run mercy rule
with three or more innings.
In other action, two teams
had to come from behind
in their winners’ brackets
games.

by attending the Mercer
University basketball camp
the weekend of June 18.
Houston County was one
and went 4-4 in the camp.
“We didn’t get off to a
good start,” said assistant
coach Jody Dean.' “We
faced some adversity, but
we pushed through and
that was the key.”
