PUBLIC NOTICE
FOR THE DRAFT
FINAL ENVIRONMENTAL
ASSESSMENT
FOR CONSTRUCTION
AND OPERATION
OF RUNWAY APPROACH
LIGHTING SYSTEM FOR
RUNWAY 15
AT ROBINS AIR FORCE BASE
GA
Robins Air Force Base ’ (AFB)
announces the availability for public
review and comment of the Draft Final
Environmental Assessment (EA) and
proposed unsigned Finding of No
Significant Impact (FONSI) and
Finding of No Practicable Alternative
(FONPA) for the Environmental
Assessment, Construction and
Operation of Runway Approach
Lighting System (ALS) for Runway 15
at Robins AFB Georgia.
The proposed action is to construct
a Category I ALS (specifically, an
ALSF-1) for Runway 15 at Robins
AFB. The ALSF-1 system would con
sist of a series of high intensity lights
and light bars over a 3,000-foot length.
The proposed action would improve
aircraft sorties’ ability to perform night
and inclement weather approaches
and landings, thus enhancing mission
capabilities.
The environmental resources evalu
ated in this EA are physical, air, waste
management and toxic materials,
noise, biological, cultural, socioeco
nomic, safety, transportation, and
cumulative. No significant impacts on
the environment are anticipated at this
time, but if they do occur during con
struction activities will cease until the
resource is evaluated and protected.
Conducting the proposed action would
produce a positive socioeconomic
effect by providing short term econom
ic stimulus to the region’s economy, as
well as having a positive impact on
health and safety by increasing aircraft
accessibility to Robins AFB during
inclement weather.
A copy of the Draft Final EA and pro
