host “Freedom Fest 2005” from
2 until 10:30 p.m. Christian
music, fireworks and a “Kids
Zone” will be highlights of the
free event. Food will be sold.
The location will be outdoors on
the large field adjacent to the
church, which is at 1040 S.
Houston Lake Road, Warner
Robins.
Special guests will be military
families, police, firefighters and
others who protect the commu
nity and the nation.

OBITUARIES
DONNIE RAY FOREHAND
WARNER ROBINS - Donnie Ray Forehand, 68, passed
away Tuesday, June 27, 2005. Services will be held at 2 p.m.
Thursday (TODAY) in the chapel of Heritage Memorial
Funeral Home, with burial in Magnolia Park Cemetery.
Visitation was from 7 until 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funer
al home.
Forehand was born in Houston County. He was the son of
the late Rupert and Lurlene Poole Forehand. He was a char
ter member at Second Baptist Church in Warner Robins
and at the present time, a member of the First Baptist
Church of Perry. Forehand was a longtime Mason in a Fort
Valley lodge and had been a sales clerk for several different
shoe companies. He graduated from the Warner Robins
High School and attended Brewton-Parker College for
about a year.
Survivors include a stepdaughter, Katie Knight of Warner
Robins; sisters, Corrie Ann (Billy) Benton of Centerville,
Margie (Raymond) Biglane of Ellisville, Miss., Doris (Gary)
Brown of Warner Robins; and several nieces and nephews.
Heritage Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrange
ments.
MARGARET R POOLE
OGLETHORPE - Margaret E Poole, 81, of Oglethorpe,
died Monday, June 27, 2005. Funeral services will be held at
10 a.m. Thursday (TODAY) in the Chapel of Heritage
Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Magnolia
Park Cemetery. The Rev. Matt Johnson will officiate.
Poole, a native of Taylor County, was the daughter of the
late Newton and Jeffie Gaultney Peterman. She lived most
of her adult life in Warner Robins and later moved to
Oglethorpe. She was a member of First Baptist Church in
Warner Robins and also attended Whitewater Baptist
Church in Oglethorpe. She was preceded in death by five
brothers and three sisters.
Survivors include her husband James I. “Jip” Poole Jr. of
Oglethorpe; children, Donna (Joe) Maynard and James
(Beth) Poole 111, all of Warner Robins; siblings, Carl “Pete”
Peterman, Edna Holland, both of Warner Robins, Frances
Murray of Bradenton, Fla., and Peggy West of Hiawassee;
grandchildren, Kelly Inboden, Courtney Poole and Cameron
Poole; beloved cousin, Sammie Cox of Oglethorpe.
The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at
the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Scottish Rite
Children’s Hospital.
Heritage Memorial Funeral Home has charge of arrange
ments.

Revenue Department assumes
tag, title administration Friday

Beginning Friday, the
Georgia Department of
Revenue assumes responsi
bility for the registration
and titling of motor vehicles
within Georgia, which was
formerly the responsibility
of the Department of Motor
Vehicle Safety.
This action is part of HB
501 that created the
Department of Driver
Services as the successor
agency of the DMVS.
“We are planning a seam
less transition,” said
Georgia Revenue
Commissioner Bart L.
Graham. “There should be
no impact on the service
Georgia residents receive as
the Revenue Department
assumes this responsibility.”
The Revenue Department
will gain 291 full-time
employees and 32 tempo
rary personnel. The new

vehicle tag and title busi
ness at their local tag office
and current Georgia licenses
plates continue in effect
until their normal expira
tion dates.”
In addition to registration
and titling of motor vehicles,
the Revenue Department
will assume responsibility
for administering the elec
tronic verification of motor
vehicle insurance.
“Going forward we antici
pate working closely with
county tax commissioners to
develop more efficient meth
ods of providing better serv
ice in these areas to
Georgia’s citizens,” said
Graham.
