OBITUARY
FRANCES H. MATTA
WARNER ROBINS - Frances H. Matta, 72, of Warner
Robins died Thursday, June 30, 2005. Funeral services will
be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday July 5, 2005 (TODAY), in the
chapel of Heritage Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will fol
low at Andersonville National Cemetery. Deacon Jim Hunt
will officiate.
Matta, a native of France, was the widow of Manuel C.
Matta. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church
and was a Pink Lady at the Houston Healthcare Complex.
Survivors include her children, Tony Matta of Warner
Robins, Michelle (Jose) Mendez of O’Fallon, 111., John
(Paula) Matta of Las Vegas, Nevada, Anne Marie (Thomas)
Wilson of Sealy, Texas, and Nadine Haynes of Kentucky;
grandchildren: Sheree (Phil) Erven, Christine Matta, Marc
Matta, Jose Manuel Mendez, Victor Mendez, Katie Daily
and Shannon Daily; and great-grandchild, Philip Erven.
The family received friends from 7-9 p.m. Monday at the
funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of
Houston County, Serenity Gate, 103 Westridge Drive,
Warner Robins, GA 31088.
Heritage Memorial Funeral Home has charge of arrange

Man apparently
drowns in WR
Police are investigating
the apparent drowning
death of Curtis Fowler, 46,
in a swimming pool at
Corder Crossing
Apartments, 750 Corder
Road, Warner Robins.
Fowler was found unre
sponsive at the pool at
approximately 11 p.m.
Saturday. He was later pro
nounced dead at Houston
Turn lanes to be constructed
at new entrance to RAFB

Robins Air Force Base is
building a new entrance
from Ga. 247 across from
Watson Boulevard, and the
Georgia Department of
Transportation has agreed
to have median and turn
lanes constructed on Ga.
247 in order for the
entrance to operate effi
ciently.
DOT officials met with
base personnel to discuss
what work would be neces
sary in the median to pro
vide access at this location.

MACON - Emily Moody of
Elko isn’t old enough to be a
professional cyclist, but she
did take home a big prize
from the 2005 Dodge Tour
de Georgia - a brand new
bicycle.
Moody, who attends Kings
Chapel Elementary School,
was one of hundreds of stu
dents from around the state
who participated in the
Healthy Georgia Expo Hunt
during this year’s Tour de
Georgia. The Expo, spon
sored by the Georgia
Department of Human
Resources (DHR) and the
Georgia Cancer Coalition
(GCC), included several
interactive, health-focused
booths. Race spectators in
Augusta, Macon, Rome,
Dahlonega, Brasstown Bald
and Alpharetta received
valuable health information
about cancer, heart disease,
diabetes and other chronic
