Jason Elliott Mitchum. 25.
1093 A Booth Road. Warner
Robins, was arrested for burgla
ry on June 27 after reportedly
claiming it was someone else
He reportedly told the victim
he saw two black males come
out of the home carrying speak
ers and tools, and one jumped a
fence at the rear of the property
where he lives While the deputy
was talking with the victim,
Mitchum reportedly kept walking
in and answering the questions.
He was reportedly observed with
some tools in his pocket and a
can of lighter fluid The com
plainant reportedly said the tools
and lighter fluid belong to him.
Mitchum showed the deputies
where he alleged the actual sus
pect jumped the fence. The resi
dent on the other side of the 6-
foot-high fence covered in briars
and brush had been in the yard
for the past few hours and told
authorities he had not seen any
one
Mitchum reportedly admitted
the items in his pocket were the
victim’s, but he borrows stuff
from him all the time He also
reportedly said he’s a thief and
sells pills to the victim He then
said he “was an honest crook. I
don’t have anything to hide, ya’ll
can look in my house if you want
to,” according to reports
The deputies took him up on
the offer and walked with him to
the house, reportedly finding
one of the speakers in
Mitchum’s shower. He then told
the deputies “the black guy who
took it dropped it by the fence”
so he picked it up.
The victim identified the
speaker and several tools found
in Mitchum’s home as his.
Mitchum was arrested and taken
to jail.
