Angell was able to get a
$5,000 challenge grant from
Kaboom-Home Depot, but
the total cost of the project
will be $53,400. She has
already had one fund-raiser:
a dunking booth at the
recent July 4 celebration.
Another fund-raiser is
planned for Friday, July 29.
Angell is trying to get area
business owners to allow
their employees to make a
$5 donation to the play
ground fund in return for
them being allowed to
“dress down” on that day.
Angell also has several
other fund-raisers planned
for Saturday, July 23,
including a community yard

rent SPLOST,” Steed said.

money is spent on things

olous - and enhance educa

Design Day has been set
for Saturday, July 30. On
that day neighborhood chil
dren and their parents will
be invited to come and look
over the plans for the play
ground and make their own
suggestions and designs.
“If they help design the
playground they will have a
sense of ownership and will
be more likely to take good
care of it and protect it from
vandalism,” said Angell.

NOTICE OF PROPERTY TAX INCREASE
The Houston County Board of Commissioners has
tentatively adopted a millage rate which will in
crease property taxes by 6.96%.
All concerned citizens are invited to attend three
public hearings on this tax increase. The first two
of these hearings will be held in the Commissioners
Board Room of the County Annex Building, 200
Carl Vinson Parkway, Warner Robins, Georgia on
July 19, 2005 at 11:00am and 6:3opm.
