“His curveball and change
up were excellent. It was a
wrinkle that threw our guys
off.”
Gifford earned the game
ball from his head coach
Mike Wells.
“It was pitching tonight,”
he said.
In the Majors game,
Nathan Dempsey hits a tri
ple and a home run to lead
Warner Robins West to a 9-4
win over Vine-Ingle.
Dempsey’s triple actually
hit the top of the fence, but
was called a triple.
Vine-Ingle had jumped to
a 1-0 lead off a home run,
but Warner Robins respond
ed with four in the top of the
second.
An RBI triple by Dempsey
and singles by Taylor Simons
and Cody Price put West up
4-1.
Vine-Ingle scored single
runs in the second, third
to make it a 4-3 game, but

up exhibitions. Some are
less significant than others
(are you listening, NFL Pro
Bowl?), but even the baseball
version fails to grab my inter
est. True, the winning league
gets the home field advan
tage in the World Series but
does home field really mean
all that much these days?
The last time a team won
the World Series by only win
ning their home games was
when the Twins won over the
Braves and I personally do
not want to be reminded of
that disgusting event.
Baseball was just thrown
out of the 2012 Olympics for
the sole reason the MLB will
not agree to taking a two
week break in the middle of
the season so its best play
ers can go play. Even the
total brain-dead leadership of
the National Hockey League
allows its player to partici
pate in the Olympics.
My bottom line then
becomes: Since baseball
snubs the Olympics, I snub
the All-Star Game.
And I am totally and
completely tired of Kenny
Rogers.
Hey, the guy roughs up a
cameraman for no good rea
son and not only is he not
arrested, but he is invited to
the All-Star Game.
And now here he is even
- as I write this column -
talking about how it should
be what people do on the
field that is what people talk
about.
Hey dude, you were stand
ing on a playing field when
you slammed that camera
into the guy's face. You had a
uniform on and everything.
If Rogers and his union
had any class he would have
admitted what he did was
wrong, humbly take his 20-
game suspension in silence
and give that cameraman his
ticket to the game.
But he has no class and his
union is only interested in
protecting steroid users.
But that is another rant.
Oh, wait... I already covered
that one. Never mind.

shot.
Vine-Ingle added another
run in the fifth but Warner
Robins scored one in the top
of the sixth.
“We had to come in swing
ing the bats,” said Warner
Robins West manager Ron
McArthur. “We knew they
were going to hit the ball
and we knew we were going
to have to hit with them.
Our defense kept them from
having a big inning.”
McArthur credited his
pitcher Dylan Burgess for
keeping Vine-Ingle off bal
ance at the plate.
“They’re a hitting team,”
he said. “Dylan has a lot
of different pitches to keep
them off balance. We were
basically going with Dylan.”
Burgess allowed nine hits,
but his defense made the
plays when it had to and
Vine-Ingle could only man
age to scratch together one
run at a time.

In small towns all across America, calls to

willing volunteers who make up the major

The golf clubhouse,
which is at the Fairway
Ridge site, under con
struction is one of two.
The other will be a com
munity clubhouse. The
site will also include ten
nis courts, a swimming
pool and a place for social
activities.
Lamberth added that
one of the misconceptions
about the current status
of the golf course is that it
is private. He said that the
club would not go private
until “we get this place
full," he said. "Thirty-five
percent of the people (in
golf developments) join
the golf club. We would
need 400 members to go
private.”
The cost for a round of
nine holes is $lO includ
ing cart. To play 18, the
cost is $lB.
