Perry Police arrested a
Perry man early Monday
after he allegedly robbed a
Dexter man at gunpoint at
the Scottish Inn on
Courtney Hodges Boulevard
on Friday evening.
Jarvis Jermaine Scott, 22,
whose last known address
was listed as 1300 Gains
Drive, was charged with
armed robbery and burglary
for allegedly forcing 42-year
old Ronnie Parks to hand
over cash and valuables.
Scott reportedly knocked
on the door of Parks’ hotel
room shortly after 8 p.m.
Friday night. An unidenti
fied friend of Parks opened
the door and Scott allegedly
pulled a 9mm pistol,
demanding cash and valu
ables. Police said Scott took
$260 in cash, a cell phone
and a pack of cigarettes.
Police arrested Scott after
he reportedly attempted to
knock down the door of his
girlfriend’s apartment at
Ashton Landing

BRIAN J. REED
PERRY - Brian J. Reed, 64, died at his residence on
Monday, July 18, 2005. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m.
Thursday at the Perry First Baptist Church, with interment
in Perry Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m.
Wednesday at the funeral home. The family suggests con
tributions to Perry Volunteer Outreach, RO. Box 1824,
Perry. The Rev. Rick Parker and Dr. Gene Bowman will offi
ciate.
Reed, born in Brighton-East Sussex, England, and the
son of the late Leslie and Lily Reed, had lived here for 24
years and was a chartered accountant. He became a U.S. cit
izen in 2001 and was currently in charge of Outreach
Ministries for the Perry Volunteer Outreach. He had served
as comptroller for Utility Service Inc. and was the previous
chairman of Mellco. A member of the Perry First Baptist
Church, he was a deacon, choir member and taught Sunday
School in the Avon Buice Class.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Heather Reed; chil
dren, Tandy Thomas (Todd) of Kathleen, Nicola Boyette
(Jeffrey) of Goldsboro, N.C., Helen Warner (Ben) of
Valdosta, Lois Reed (Reggie Sanks) of McDonough, and
Suzanne Conrad (Joel) of Perry; 14 grandchildren; sister,
Barbara Moore (Fred) of Leicestershire, England; brother,
Derek Reed (Linda) of Hampshire, England. He was pre
ceded in death by a brother, John Reed.

HAWKINSVILLE - Robert Thomas died Friday, July 15,
2005. Service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Pleasant
Grove Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Madedonia
Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Willie Mae Thomas; children,
Mary Joe Lawson, Beverly Felder and James Thomas; sib
lings, Dora bank, Mary Phillip, Marva, Johnny and Alfonia
Thomas.
