WR annexes Peach County land
By TIMOTHY GRAHAM
HHJ Staff Writer
Warner Robins annexed a
planned housing develop
ment in Peach County into
the city on Monday night
and approved the Vision
2020-sanctioned County
Advisory and Coordinating
Planning Committee.
The council approved the
annexation of a 22.35-acre
plot between Gunn Road
and Ga. 247 Connector at
the zoning designation of R
-4. That zoning would allow
multi-family homes to be
built on the site. The site
plan filed by the owners
calls for 273 apartments to
be built on the land.
The council also approved
the zoning change of five
plots between South Fourth
Street and North Fourth
Street in Warner Robins.
The zoning change from R-2
to C-2 is to facilitate the
expansion of Five Star
Chevrolet.
The council approved the
formation of a County
Advisory and Coordinating
Planning Committee as pro
posed by Vision 2020. The
committee would not have

county and the three cities
within Houston County.
Each council member is to
submit two names to Mayor
Donald Walker for inclusion
in the committee. Warner
Robins would have four
members on the committee,
the county three members
and Perry and Centerville
one each.
In other action, the coun

office park on Houston Lake

and approved $47,000 in

The council discussed an
offer from Chuck Woods to
purchase 65 acres in the
Booth Road Industrial Park
for just over $1 million.
Fifteen of those acres are
unexploitable wetlands, so
the cost of the usable
acreage would average out
to just over $20,000.
The council was not happy
with the offer since land in
the park had been recently
sold for $25,000 an acre. The
council had also approved an
appraisal of the property to
aid the sale of future land in
the park.
Council members agreed
to put off a final decision on
the offer until after the
appraisal comes in at the
end of the month.
The council also discussed
the landscaping plans for a
