Parents must get in line to
pick up their children after
school. Some wait as long
as half an hour in line.
Some parents just don’t
believe in going to the end
of the line. They come late,
then cut in ahead of par
ents who have patiently
awaited their turn. This
picture shows cars cutting
into the line where parents
are picking up their chil

Elementary School. It
seemed to be the same
people showing up late,
refusing to follow the long
established system and
demanding special treat

Manson gets 25 years
for attack on girlfriend
By RAY LIGHTNER
HHJ Staff Writer
Willie Blake Manson, 59,
118 S. Third St., Warner
Robins, was sentenced to 25
years, to serve 20 without
parole for a knife attack on
his girlfriend April 10.
Manson pleaded guilty
Monday to aggravated bat
tery and possession of a
knife during the commission
of a crime in Houston
County Superior Court just
minutes before a jury was to
be selected to hear his case,
said Senior Assistant
District Attorney Jason E.
Ashford.
Houston County Superior
Court Judge Edward D.
Lukemire, during sentenc
ing, reviewed and then
showed photos of the vic
tim’s injuries in the case to
the defendant before pro
nouncing sentence, Ashford
said. Lukemire required
that Manson stay out of
Houston County and the
surrounding area after he is
released from prison.
Ashford noted the vicious
ness of the attack, and also

noted that the defendant
had multiple convictions for
violent crimes in the past
and qualified for recidivist
sentencing. Manson had
previously been convicted of
arson, burglary and terroris
tic threats.
“Willie Blake Manson was
and is a vicious, violent
criminal and I hope he
spends the next 20 years
thinking about his crimes
and the pain and suffering
he’s caused,” Ashford said.
“This was a brutal and
unprovoked attack, and the
victim is lucky to be alive.”
According to Ashford, dur
ing the attack, a neighbor
heard the victim’s screams
and forced her way into the
house by breaking a glass
window to the residence in
an attempt to stop the
attack.
“This distracted Manson
long enough for the victim
to escape,” Ashford said,
adding that the neighbor “is
a true hero in this case, and
I have no doubt that she
saved my victim’s life.”
