Police say e-mail
is not accurate
By RAY LIGHTNER
HHJ Staff Writer
An e-mail going around
regarding a kidnapping and
sexual assault that reported
ly occurred in the Wal-Mart
parking lot in Warner
Robins “is not accurate,”
said Sgt. Chris Rooks of the
Warner Robins Police
Department Criminal
Investigations Division.
Rooks said police sent out
a press release regarding the
incident because of an e
mail going around and peo
ple have been contacting
police with concerns.
The e-mail claims: “on
July 30 in broad daylight in
the parking lot of the
Warner Robins Wal-Mart, a
woman was raped. It has not
been in the paper or publi
cized in any way for fear
that he will flee because the
victim is certain she can ID
the man.”
Rooks said the depart
ment would inform the pub
lic of such a violent crime if
the information in the e
mail were accurate. There
was a report filed on July 27,
not July 30, at approximate
ly 3:41 p.m. in regards to a
woman being kidnapped and

ager of Alltel’s Perry office,
the cable was cut outside his

raped, Rooks noted.
Warner Robins Police
immediately began an inves
tigation, Rooks said, and the
report was determined false
that same day. On Aug. 1,
police charged Rebecca Ann
Lundman, 28, 104 Michelle
Terrace, Warner Robins,
with false report of a crime
in the incident.
There are a few indica
tions in the e-mail to it
being false, such as the
writer claiming her “super
visor’s friend knows the vic
tim so this is not a rumor,”
and that “this e-mail has
come through many Warner
Robins people and I would
take it to be 99-percent
accurate.”
The e-mail does advise
women to be more conscious
of their surroundings and
also says of the alleged vic
tim, “... this will be an expe
rience she won’t soon forget
and will feel the affect for a
long time.”
Anyone with information
can contact Sgt. Chris Rooks
with the Warner Robins
Police Department Criminal
Investigations Division at
918-2982 or 929-6911.
Murkerson said that the
disruption knocked out
Alltel’s toll line, which
affected long distance serv
ice in Perry, for about two
hours, ending sometime
around 10 p.m.
Technicians with
Com South reported no dis
ruptions of their phone serv
ice Thursday, and represen
tatives of Bell South could
not be reached by press time
Friday.
