annual golt tournament
The Maj. Gen. Joseph A.
McNeil Chapter will be hosting
its second annual golf tourna
ment to benefit the preserva
tion/history of the Tuskegee
Airmen Sept. 10 at Pine Oaks
Golf Course on Robins.
Sponsors can support by
donating gift certificates, golf
balls, et cetera, and/or by
sponsoring a hole for SIOO.
The cost is S4O per golfer.
Team registration is slated
to start at 7:30 a.m. the day of

Lady Eagles capture Boulder Invitational

The Northside Lady Eagles trav
eled to Colorado over the Labor Day
weekend and came home with the
championship of the Boulder County
Invitational Softball Tournament.
Northside played their first game
on Friday and won over Eaglecrest
3-0. Lady Eagles hurler Brittany
Wallace won the decision on a one
hitter. Northside got one run in the
second inning and two in the fifth
as they totaled five hits and com
mitted one error. Eaglecrest got
one hit and fumbled the ball three

Warner Robins hosted and then ran all over Stockbridge Saturday at McConnell-
Talbert Stadium in Warner Robins. The Demons amassed 542 yards on the ground,
and that was without the starters in the second half, while beating the Tigers 70-
7. Brandon Anderson, Antwan Hamilton, Maurice Gray, Darius Rumph, DeWayne
Jackson and Eric Devoursney all scored at least once in the victory.

errors. Chattfield got one run on
three hits and hobbled it twice. Kelly
Thornburg was 2-for-2, Wallace was
2-for-3 and Kim Dominee hit a
home run. Wallace was the winning
pitcher.
The Lady Eagles got up early
Saturday morning and took a 5-2
win over Ralston Valley. Ralston
took the early lead with a single run
in the first inning but Northside
fought back with one in the second

suburban Atlanta softball
teams in Alpharetta, Perry
High School won three out
of five games and took first
place in one of three divi
sions at the Chattahooche
High School Labor Day
Tournament Friday and
Saturday.
Perry had three wins
plus one tie and returned
home with an overall 8-5-
1 record. In three games
played Saturday, the
Panthers scored 28 runs
while surrendering just
one.
It was on Friday when
Perry and Wesleyan, a
strong Class AA squad, fin
ished with a 1-1 tie. Up pext

second at Cannon Classic

The Central Georgia
Soccer Association’s U-16
Ultimate Strikers Athena
(USA) team finished second
recently at the Cannon’s
Fall Classic Tournament in
Newnan. The venue was
open to all USYSA affiliated
teams at all levels. Teams
from Georgia, Alabama and
Tennessee took part.
“Team USA used the
preseason tournament
to get an idea of how the
ladies melded together
as a team,” said coach
Debbie Leipprandt who is
assisted by Barry Coggins,
“and what areas need to
be worked on prior to the

solo run in the fourth but Northside
finished the scoring with a single
run in the sixth for the win.
Hammer was 2-for-4 while Wallace
was 2-for-3 with a double and
Lakeshia Levi was 2-for-three with
a double and a triple. Northside
got five runs on nine hits and one
error. Ralston Valley got two runs
on seven hits and one error.
That win matched Northside with
the two-time defending Colorado
state champion team from Erie in
the semifinals and Northside won a
3-2 nailbiter.
