Remember when...
Thongs were rubber san
dals you wore to the beach on
your feet; your bathing suit
covered your body more than
your underwear did; most
bathing suits were one-piece;
protection from the sun was a
T-shirt and a big hat; jewelry
was not worn in the navel, on
the ankle nor around the toe.

Fundraiser...
Tonight from 7:30 to 10:30,
the Warner Robins Little
Theatre is hosting a fundrais
er at America’s Best Inn and
Suites located at 1440 Watson
Boulevard. Admission is
$60.00, which includes gam
ing chips, Hors D’oeuvres and
beverages. All proceeds will
benefit the theatre’s New
Building Fund. The Grand
Prize for the evening is a
round trip airfare for two to
any Air Tran destination.
Additionally, other prizes will
be awarded throughout the
night.
Books on tape....
Eight and nine hour auto
trips, alone, go so much faster
with audio books—books on
tape. On the way to Florida
last week I listened to Shell
Seekers written by Rosamond
Pilcher; it was a great time
passer and a story easy to
get into. After that I tuned
into First Wives Club, Olivia
Goldsmith, which helped pro
pel me down 1-75. I checked
them out of the Centerville
Library; however, more cur
rent books on tape are avail
able through Cracker Barrel
restaurants for a very modest
rental fee.
North vs. South...
The North has coffee
houses; the South has Waffle
Houses.
The North has double last
names; the South has double
first names.
The North has green sal

Strawberries a treat
I love spring and one of the
main reasons is because of the
wonderful fresh strawberries.
Yes, I was there Friday morn
ing picking up my strawber
ries from the Perry Exchange
Club. I had already made the
fruit dip before I left home and
started dipping minutes after
I arrived home. The berries
are so easy to freeze, which
enables us to enjoy so many
good dishes all year, but there
is nothing like a good, fresh,
beautiful strawberry I like the
way God put the little green
handles on top to hold on to
and dip with..
Here are some great straw
berry treats.
Fresh Fruit Dip
1 large container marsh
mallow cream
1 8-oz. pkg. cream
cheese
Place cream cheese (soft
ened) in a deep bowl and mix
until smooth and creamy.
Add marshmallow cream and
mix until smooth. Great with
strawberries! (Also good with
apples or bananas.)
Springtime Fruit
Salad
3 cups seedless grapes
2 cups fresh strawber
ries
3 bananas sliced
3 apples, cut into bite
sized pieces
1 large can chunk pine
apple
1 8-oz. jar maraschino
cherries
1 box pistachio instant
pudding
11/4 cup buttermilk
1 8-oz. container Cool
Whip
Combine fruit in large bowl
and set aside. Mix buttermilk,
pudding mix and Cool Whip.
Pour over fruit, mix well and
chill for at least an hour.
Fruit Pizza
1 roll slice and bake
cookie dough
18-oz. pkg. cream cheese,
softened
1/ 4 cup sugar

Newberry Honor
b00k5....
Newberry honor books
are the ones that were cho
sen as “runners-up” to the
Newberry medal winner,
Criss Cross written by Lynne
Perkins. Princess Academy by
Shannon Hale is a marvelous
coming-of-age tale rooted in
a fantasy world where people
can speak to each other with
out words by using shared
memories. (Ages 10-up)
A second Newberry honor
book is Whittington, an
intriguing animal tale in
the style of Charlotte’s Web
and Babe. Author Alan
Armstrong weaves the Stir
ling legend of Dick Whitting
and his famous cat into a
modern-day story focused on
a young boy named Ben who
is frustrated by his inability
to learn to read. (Ages 8-12)

Cooking with Jean
Various sliced fruits:
strawberries, kiwi, peach
es, mandarin oranges, etc.
1 10-12 oz. jar apricot
preserves
1 to 2 tablespoons
Spray a 13-inch pizza pan
with Pam. Slice cookie dough
into thin slices and lay onto
pan so when it bakees, slices
will spread and fill in spaces.
Bake at 350 degrees for about
10 to 12 minutes until lightly
browned. Cool. Mix cream
cheese, sugar and vanilla until
smooth. Spread over cooled
crust to within V 2 inch around
edge. Lay well-drained fruits
in concentric circles until you
reach the center. Any pattern
can be made as long as the
colors blend. Cover and chill.
Slice as for regular pizza. This
is best presented to guests
before serving to show its
beauty and then eaten the
same day it is made.
