champions
Houston County’s middle
schools baseball players
competed for the county
championship Tuesday
with Feagin Mill Middle
School winning for both
the seventh- and eighth
grade. In the case of
the first, they edged
Huntington 3-1, while
the other beat Thomson
Middle School 7-2. It
was also a repeat cham
pionship for the eighth
grade, which benefitted
from Blake Mullis’ 17-

(Note: In fact, the Bears
only committed three total in
both games combined - two
were in one inning. And, if
not for a couple of right-off
the-bat defensive gems - i.e.
Mark Iwin at short to Joe
Vasquez at second to Alex
Blain at first for a double-play
- Union Grove would have
undoubtedly taken an early
lead/momentum)

stressed out about the play

been before, but the monkey's
off their backs and they feel
pretty good about it."
