Eidson said that in 1994,
there were 39 properties
with a total assessed value
of $1,402,946. At the time,
the millage rate was 9.0

By 2005, however, those
numbers had more than qua

properties with an assessed
value of $7,571,960. With
a millage of 10.7, he said
that it equals approximately
$85,000 in lost tax revenue if
there were no exemptions.
Contrary to the senior citi

there was little opposition
to the issue of alcohol being
sold by the drink on Sundays
in restaurants.
Two citizens, Judy and

When polled, councilmen
Wright and Wilson said they
would like to give the citi
zens of Centerville a voice
on that issue. Councilman
Smith declined to comment..
“What we're trying to do is
move from being a bedroom
community to one that has
businesses,” said the mayor.
“A bedroom community real

a business-friendly environ

According to Edwards,
he hopes to establish three
town meetings at various
times and places to get public
input on both issues which
could be put to citizens in
the form of a referendum.
City Attorney Rebecca
Tydings aaid after the pub

or either of the issues and

B The council also made a
motion to pass an ordinance
codified as Section 11-18
regarding a revision of the
false alarm policy. After the
first two false alarms in a
month, the revision charges
residents and business own
ers a SSO fine for any addi
tional false alarms during
that month. It also requires
owners of that alarm system
to submit a written report to
the police department “giv
ing full details of the reasons
behind the erroneous (false
alarm).”
The ordinance also states
that a notice of the sums due
will be delivered in writing
to the owner or operator of
the alarm system and will
be due within 30 days of the
date of assessment. Business
license renewal applications
may also be denied until all
monies due are paid in full.
M The council also passed a
motion to accept the chang

the City of Centerville. The
agreement provides for ken
