scored five goals and had
two assists.
“M.J. is a big target and did
a good job for us up top this
season."
Other: He was named to
the All-Region team for 1-
AAAAA.
Coach’s corner: "M.J. is
a good forward and really
stepped his game up late in
the season in the playoffs.
He will do well at the next
level playing soccer."
Randy Jones
School: Northside
Year: Senior
Position: Left fullback
Impact: Filled a major hole
in the defense, Lane said.
Coach's corner: “Randy
never complained about
what was happening on the
field. He just goes out and
plays hard."
Stephen Clark
School: Warner Robins
Year: Senior
Position: Center midfielder
Impact: Let the team in
assists and was named the
team’s “player of the game"
twice.
Other: He was a team cap
tain, named to the All-Region
team for 3-AAAA and the
team's Most Valuable Player.
Patrick Robertson
School: Warner Robins
Year: Senior
Position: Keeper
Impact: He recorded 78
saves - 73 goals against
average for an 87 percent
save percentage. Recorded
eight shutouts and was the
team’s “player of the game"
twice.'
Other: He was a team cap
tain and named to the All-
Region team for 3-AAAA.
Eric Anderson
School: Warner Robins
Year: Senior
Position: Center defender
Impact: Had the most
playing time of any player
(17 starts in 17 games, 1,330
minutes) and was named the
team’s “player of the game"
once.
Other: He was named to the
All-Region team for 3-AAAA
and received the team's Best
Defender award.
Daniel Douthit
School: Perry
Year: Senior
Position: Keeper
Impact: He had another
“outstanding year," said
head coach Sam Said. He
recorded 86 saves “behind a
defense of four players all in
brand new positions," added
Said. “His most impressive
stat is his save percentage in
penalty kicks." That was .667
after having stopped six PKs
while allowing three.
Other: He was named a
runner-up on the All-Region
team for 4-AAA and received
the team’s Most Valuable
Player award.
David King WM
School: Perry
Year: Senior
Position: Sweeper
Impact: Recorded one
goal and had three assists.
‘David was our best all
around player and could more
than likely start on any team
in the region,” said Said. “He
had to play sweeper this year
but could have played any
where on the field for us, and
we pushed him up the field
when we needed him."
Other: He was named to
the All-Region first team for
4-AAA.
Jason Sweat
School: Perry
Year: Senior
Position: Midfielder
Impact: He was tied as the
team leader in goals scored
with 11 and had seven assists.
That was despite the fact he
was injured and missed three
games," Said added. He also
took and made every penalty
kick the team had (for the
past three years) and “made
every one," Said said.
“Jason is the only four-year
starter we have ever had as
long as I’ve been here," said
Said. “His ball control and
decision making is by far the
best we have."
Other: He was named to
the All-Region first team for
4-AAA.
Eric Atkins
School: Houston County
Year: Sophomore
Position: Forward, wing
and marking back
Impact: A starter, he
scored eight goals (second
on the team) - played some
defense early in the season,
McCook said - and had two
assists. “Eric did a great job
scoring for us the season,"
said McCook.
Other: He was named to
the All-Region team for 1-
AAAAA.
Coach's corner: “Eric real
ly came on strong and was
one of our most improved
players. Eric has the poten
tial to be a big time for
ward and score 20+ goals
a season over the next few
years.”
Dallas Hall
School: Houston County
Year: Freshman
Position: Stopper
Impact: A starter, he led
the team in intercepts and
had 17 non-goalie saves.
“Dallas was one of our best
defensive players and imme
diately earned the respect
of his teammates,” said
McCook. “His play down the
stretch was outstanding."
Other: He was named to
the All-Region team for 1-
AAAAA.
Coach's Corner: “Dallas
is one of the best all around
players I have ever been
around. He is also one of the
most humble players I have
been around. We can expect
big things from him over the
next few years."
Buddy Tribble
School: Houston County
Year: Junior
Position: Forward and.
midfield
Impact: A starter, he
scored five goals and had
three assists.
“Buddy had great season
was a key part of our offen
sive attack," McCook said.
Other: He was named to
the All-Region team for 1-
AAAAA and earned the nick
name “Hollywood” for hav
ing the most pictures in the
newspapers.
Coach’s corner: “Buddy
really stepped up this season
and made some clutch goals
for us down the stretch. His
play seemed to get better as
the season went along.”
Second team
Jacob Primm
School: Houston County
Year: Junior
Position: Left wing and
midfielder
Impact: A starter, he scored
11 goals and had six assists.
He was the team leader in
goals and total points with
28.
“(He) did a great job in
controlling the outside mid
position,” said McCook.
“Jacob always seemed
to find a way to score in
big time games. His size,
speed and ball control really
gave us an advantage on
the left side.”
Other: He was named to
the All-Region team for 1-
AAAAA.
Coach’s corner: ‘Jacob
plays the game hard and
leaves everything on the field,
He had a great junior season
and I look forward to what he
will do next season."
Richie Wimsatt
School: Houston County
Year: Sophomore
Position: Center midfielder
and forward
Impact: A starter, he scored
five goals and was the team
leader in assists with 10.
“(He) really did a great job
in center controlling the mid
field," McCook said. “Richie
had several clutch goals
this season and really had a
superb season.”
Other: He was named to
the All-Region team for 1-
AAAAA.
“Richie has always done
the little things to win games.
This season he stepped up
and did everything to push
this team into the Elite Eight.
He seemed to get better each
and every game. His first
step and touch on the ball is
as good as anyone.”
Robby Bartz
School: Houston County
Year: Junior
Position: Sweeper
Impact: A starter, he had
21 non-goalie saves.
“Robby is a leader on
defense and really elevated
his game as the season went
along," said McCook. “His
play and leadership helped
this team make it to the Elite
Eight.
Other: He was named to
the All-Region team for 1-
AAAAA.
Coach’s corner: “Robby
was one of our most improved
players on the season and
will be one of the anchors on
defense next year. He is an
outstanding competitor who
plays the game hard and
leaves it all on the field."
Nick Mayo
School: Northside
Year: Junior
Position: Midfield
Impact: A starter, he
scored five goals and had
one assist. He was the "best
player on the team," said
head coach Rusty Lane.
Other: He was a team
captain and named to the
All-Region first team for 3-
AAAA.
Coach’s corner: “(He was
a) great player... Fierce com
petitor."
Kurt Dzwonkowskl
School: Northside
Year: Junior
Position: Fullback
Impact: A starter, “Kurt did
a good job of reading the
play and positioning himself
to intercept the ball," Lane
said.
Other: He was a team cap
tain (captain of the defense).
Coach’s corner: “Hard
working and a verbal team
leader."
Scotty Thompson
School: Northside
Year: Junior
Position: Stopper
Impact: Scored four goals
- all from at least 25 yards
out - and had two assists.
“(He was a) vocal leader on
the field," Lane said, “direct
ing the control of the game.”
Coach’s corner: “Scotty
plays with a lot of heart and
plays through injuries.”
Elias Hall
School: Perry
Year: Sophomore
Position: Midfielder/striker
Impact: He was tied as the
team leader in goals scored
with 11 and had five assists.
“He is one of only two play
ers we had this year to play
in all 18 varsity contests,"
said Said, “and played hard
all year long.
Joe Stinson
School: Perry
Year: Senior
Position: Midfielder/striker
Impact: Scored five goals
and had two assists.
“Joe had a great year this
year," Said said.
“He played defensive mid
fielder for the majority of the
year with appearances at
forward from time to time
and did great when he was
there."
