Delta Sigma Theta to
hold beauty pageant
Special to the HHJ
The Warner Robins
Alumnae Chapter of Delta
Sigma Theta Sorority,
Inc. will host its Annual
Scholarship Debutante
Pageant Saturday at 7:30
p.m.
The pageant will be
held at the Eagle Springs
Community Center located
at 102 Eagle Parkway.
This year’s pageant theme
is “Ribbons and Roses” a
title that fittingly describes
the six dynamic contestants
vying for this year’s title of
Miss Delta Debutante 2006.

Summer school to be offered
by Houston County schools
Special to the HHJ
Summer school is offered
in Houston County at all
levels.
Free remediation and
retesting is available for
all third, fifth and eighth
graders who failed the
CRCT and for high school
students who need to retest
on the Georgia High School
Graduation Test.
Students who have failed
classes and desire to stay
on schedule for graduation
may pay to attend summer
school, which is self-sup
porting through tuition.
Details are provided for
each level.
Elementary
(Did not pass CRCT)
When: June 6-21,
Mondays through Fridays,
8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at
Parkwood Elementary and
Morningside Elementary;
Principals: Tannya Duncan
and April Strevig; Cost:
Free of charge; Extras:
Transportation, breakfast
and lunch are provided.
Middle (Did not pass
CRCT)
When: June 6-16,
Mondays through Fridays,
8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at
Northside Middle and
Perry Middle; Principals:
Dr. Alfreda Hall at Perry
Middle and Jesse Davis
at Northside Middle;
Cost: Free; Extras:
Transportation and meals
provided.
Middle (to earn credit
for failed classes)
When: June 19-July
18, Mondays through
Fridays, 7:30 a.m. to 2:30
p.m. at Northside Middle;
Principal: Davis; Cost: $175
per class for in county;
$350 per class for out-of
county; may register for
maximum of two classes.
Extras: A bus will run from
Perry Middle to Northside
Middle; otherwise parents
must provide transporta
tion.

The Georgia High School
Graduation Writing Retest
will be given on July 12,
2006, at HCCTC. All other
GHSGT retests will be
administered July 17-21,
2006, at Warner Robins
High. With a passing test
score, students would
qualify as graduates of the
Class of 2006.

shuttle buses will run from
Northside High, Houston
County High and Perry
High to Warner Robins
High.

Alexis Moore, a fourth
grade FOCUS student
at Northside Elementary
School, has been selected
for a full scholarship to
the 2006 Summer Institute
for the Gifted, a three
week residential program.
The program, according
to a release, provides aca
demic courses, cultural
and social opportunities
and recreational activities
at colleges and universi
ties to include Emory,
Princeton, UC Berkeley,
UCLA and Vassar.
Moore is one of only 25
selected. She will attend
Emory June 25-July 15.
