Diamondbacks 9, Braves 3
ATLANTA (AP) • Damion Easley
said he's just trying to keep the
Diamondbacks on track.
Tony Clark homered twice,
Easley added a three-run drive and
Arizona beat the Braves 9-3 Sunday
to complete
the first four- a
game sweep at
Atlanta's Turner
Field.
Arizona completed a 7-3 road trip
with the sweep. The Phillies swept
four games at Atlanta-Fulton County
Stadium on May 5-8, 1995. Before
this weekend, that was the last time
the Braves had been swept in a four
game series - home or away.
The Diamondbacks outscored the
Braves 28-15 in the sweep. Miguel
Batista and three relievers held the
Braves to nine hits Sunday.
"We all just stank," said Braves
nght fielder Jeff Francoeur, who was
3-for-17 in the series.
“We’ve come out and got our butts
beat four or five days in a row. It's
getting pretty tiring."
Batista (6-2) gave up seven hits
and three runs in 6 2-3 innings. He
walked two and struck out five.
The four-game sweep dropped
the Braves to 1-6 on their 10-game
homestand.

visiting Trojans in order.
The Bears were leading 6-
3 at the time, but the fifth
inning was a whole differ
ent story.
Lee County had a two
run home run with one out
to pull within one run at
6-5. The next three batters
reached base - only one via
a hit - to tie the game up at
6-all. On a wild pitch with
two outs, the Trojans led
for the first time.
With one out in the bot
tom of the fifth, Chris
Thompson got the Bear
rally started with a single.
JC Payne, backing up at
catcher, worked his way on
base with a walk.
Warner Robins White, returning to
the home park the day after beating
Perry High at the Panther Pit on a
last-inning home run, had no answers
for the Jones County pitching that
struck out seven batters and gave up
just four hits.
The Jones offense scored one run in
the first inning on a walk, a hit and an
error before any outs were recorded.
The visitors threatened again with
back-to-back hits to start the second.
But third baseman Ethan Singletary
started a 5-3 double play, then he took
the next ground ball for his second
straight assist to end the frame.
In the third, Jones used two doubles

Collins fouled off pitch

and he crushed the ball just
fair inside the third-base
line. Two runs scored on
that hit, and Hutner’s dou
ble brought in Loy for the
10-7 final.
Kyle Davis was Houston’s
starting pitcher, and he
threw two hitless shutout
innings to get the game
started. His offense scored
three times in the bottom
of the first, all starting with
a double by Chris Tessenair.
Collins and Loy each had
RBI singles, and a third
Bear run scored on a wild
pitch.
Lee County still didn’t
have a hit deep into the
top of the third, but still
managed to tie the game
at 3 apiece. A hit batter,
a walk and an error on a
bunt combined to bring in
the first Trojan run. With
two runners in scoring posi
tion, Lee went for the safety
squeeze.
Davis just did get the
throw to first base for an
out, but the first baseman
dropped the ball while tak

Trojan runner on third
broke for home and beat
the relay throw to make it
3-2.
On a wild pitch, the game
was even 3-3. Lee County
did get its first hit in the
inning, but it did not lead
to any runs.

Warner Robins’ first threat came in
the bottom of the third on a one-out
walk by Bryant Chatfield and single
through a hole by Caleb Green. Jones,
though, would turn a double play on a
failed bunt attempt.
Jones broke the game open in the
fifth with four runs on five hits and
a walk.
The Greyhounds added two more on
a two-out hit in the sixth.
Warner Robins’ other hits came from
