Goodwill offering catering
services at Edgar's in Macon

Goodwill Industries of Middle Georgia and
the CSRA announced this week the forma
tion of Edgar’s at the Goodwill Career &
Conference Center in Macon.
Edgar’s, named after Goodwill’s found
er Rev. Edgar J. Helms, is GIMG’s new
Hospitality Division which includes: Edgar’s
Catering, Edgar’s Bistro and Edgar’s
Education.
These culinary projects are spearheaded
by the newly tapped VP of Hospitality at
GIMG, Executive Chef Jim Palmeri, who
previously served as executive chef for four
star restaurants for Hyatt and Four Seasons
Resorts.
“With renowned Chef Palmeri at the helm
of Edgar’s, the Goodwill Conference Center
will be able to serve a variety of events,
whether a business casual annual meeting
or an elegant wedding,” said James K. Stiff,
President/CEO. “Chef Palmeri’s experience
lends itself to a wider audience and shows
our commitment to providing the best culi
nary experience possible, while maintaining
our ultimate goal of helping people reach
their fullest potential while building lives,
families, and communities - one job at a
time.”
Edgar’s Catering provides on-site catering
for the Goodwill Conference Center, now
open for meetings and events, and for other
venues. The Goodwill Conference Center
is a contemporary conference facility that
features more than 20,000 square feet of
meeting space including a large Atrium
Banquet Hall, which can accommodate up
to 1,000 people, and five break-out confer
ence rooms.
The facility is equipped with state-of
the-art audiovisual equipment, and Edgar’s
catering offers superb fine dining cater
ing. The Conference center is conveniently
located in the center of the state off 1-475
and features one of the largest kitchens in
the Southeast.
Executive Chef Jim Palmeri was recruited
from his position as executive chef for the
Hyatt Regency Scottsdale Resort & Spa at
Gainey Ranch to serve as Goodwill’s new
vice president of hospitality and execu
tive chef. Chef Palmeri comes to Goodwill
with more than 20 years of experience as
an executive chef. Vu Restaurant, one of
Chef Palmeri’s five restaurants at the Hyatt
children’s, shoes, cosmetics,
fragrances, accessories and
home decor departments, all
under one roof.

was the ever first off-premise caterer to be
elected to this post and currently serves the
organization as the president of the founda
tion of NACE. She is the only certified pro
fessional catering executive in Middle and
South Georgia, and she holds two honorary
doctorate of foodservice medallions.
Coming later this year, Edgar’s Bistro
will be a unique restaurant featuring con
temporary, chic design built at the Goodwill
Conference Center. It will be a full-service
American bistro, which will be open to the
public Monday through Sunday offering
creative, elegant fare served for lunch and
dinner.
Edgar’s Education is the training compo
nent of GlMG’s hospitality enterprise. The
Polly Long Denton Hospitality and Culinary
Arts is the cornerstone of Edgar’s Education,
offering certificate courses in culinary arts.
In addition, Edgar’s Education will feature
culinary arts training programs for youth
