signs along the roadway ...
and the state department of
transportation is putting its
foot down.
“(The) DOT is required to
maintain a safe roadway for
the traveling public,” said
DOT commissioner Harold
Linnenkohl, “which includes
the immediate removal of
any obstruction or hazard
that may pose a threat to the
traveling public.”
Linnenkohl added “it shall
be unlawful for any person
to erect, place or maintain
within the right of way of
any public road any sign,
signal or other device except
as authorized by subsection
d of this Code section.”
He added any person who
violates the advertising
restrictions “shall be guilty
of a misdemeanor and, upon
conviction thereof, shall be
punished.”
“In the midst of this politi
cal season, Georgia DOT
would like to clarify the laws
that deal with signs along
state routes and interstates,”
explained Linnenkohl. “As
part of our routine main
tenance work ... DOT will
remove any and all signs

nership with the Georgia
Department of Natural
Resources, and the Federal
Emergency Management
Agency, have completed an
enhanced digital flood insur
ance rate map and flood
insurance study for Houston
County, including the cities
of Centerville, Perry and
Warner Robins.
