Page 1B IN BRIEF Planning for Peach meeting ■ The Comprehensive Planning Committee for Peach County will be hold ing two public forums, one Thursday and the other June 29, both starting at 6 p.m. Residents of Peach County, Byron, Fort Valley, and Warner Robins are invited to the meetings to give ideas about the joint County Comprehensive Plan. Hot dogs and drinks will be served. The Thursday forum will be held in the cafeteria of the Byron Municipal Complex on Moseley Road. The June 29 forum will be held in the Public Meeting Room at the Courthouse in Fort Valley. WRPD officer completes OUI Instructor update ■ Traffic Officer Randy Evans of the Warner Robins Police pepartment com pleted the DU I Detection and Standardized Field Sobriety Testing Instructor Update course taught by the Georgia Police Academy Division of the Georgia Public Safety Training Center in Forsyth. The course is designed to provide instructors of DUI detection and standardized field sobriety testing courses with the latest information on the topic. Funding for the program comes from the Governor's Office of Highway Safety and training is provided at no cost to local communities at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center. Panell, 25, reportedly shot her in the head and then took her to the hospital, where he was arrested, according to Det. Meredith Edwards of the Warner Robins Police Worker faces battery charge By RAY UGHTNER HHJ Staff Writer A Kipper’s bartender has been charged with aggra- vated bat tery after reportedly punching a patron out side of the bar. On Friday at 1:03 a.m., officers with the Warner 1 GONZALEZ Robins Police Department responded to Kipper’s Bar, 4025 Watson Blvd., in refer ence to an assault. Upon arrival, several witnesses stated Donald Hicks and Francisco Gonzalez had been involved in a fight out side the bar. Gonzalez is a bartender at Kipper’s. He went outside with the vic tim, according to Det. Brad Mules of the Warner Robins Police Department Criminal Investigation Division, but had the option of going back inside. The former mayor of Centerville, who chose not to run for a second term, is now Unadilla’s City Manager. Confederate soldiers honored with memorial monument By KIMBERLY CASSEL PRITCHETT HHJ Contributing Writer Despite temperatures pushing nearly 100 degrees, more than 100 people gathered Saturday at the Cliett family cemetery in Powersville for the unveil ing of a monument honor ing Confederate soldiers.
