Cedar Grove’s (13-2) win over Crisp County (11-4) marked the Saints’ second straight state championship, their third state championship in the last four seasons and their first state championship under first-year head coach Miguel Patrick. “This feels great,” Patrick said. “I couldn’t ask for a better start to my career as a head coach.” Patrick said senior running back Chavon Wright was who the Saints started and finished the game with against Greater Atlanta Christian School, and after a scoreless first quarter, the state championship was no different. DCSO has participated in the fundraiser for several years as part of the United State Marine Corps’ Toys for Tots program whose mission is to help bring joy and “send a message of hope to America’s less fortunate children.” Hundreds of toys were sent for delivery during DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office annual Toys for Tots toy drive. Toys were collected for nearly a week at the Walmart on Ashford Dunwoody Road in Dunwoody. Photo by Asia Ashley Toys collected included bikes, trucks and cars, roller skates, dolls and other items. “It does our heart good at the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office to know that a child will wake up happy on Christmas morning knowing they did receive something,” said Sheriff Melody Maddox. “The community stepped up and stepped in and donated those items.
