Rev. A. M. Fraser, D. D., has returned |
from Washington, where he attended a
meeting of the board of trustees of Davl3 ]
and Elkins College, located at Elkins, '
W. Va.. of which he is a member. The |
importance of this meeting is seen from |
the fact that for the first time the en- \
larged board sat, the new members, half
the board, coming from the northern
Church under an agreement recently
reached. Dr. Fraser expresses himself 1
as greatly pleased with the new men, i 1
who are men of force. Hon. Henry G.
Davis was re-elected president, and Rev. j '
Dr. Francis', of Parkersburg, was elected J
vice president.

prayer showed 73.1 per cent of the students
to be professing Christians, 6.8 per t
cent candidates for the ministry and 6.8 S
per cent volunteers for foreign missions. t
Of the alumni 30.7 per cent are minis- ?
ters or missionaries. Ten of last year's '
nineteen men graduates expect to enter
on the same work. *

Prospects are exceedingly bright for j(
the immediate erection of the Austin
College Y. M. C. A. Several gifts of con- .
siderable amounts have been recently received,
among which was ohe of $2,000
front a New York philanthropist. Of the 1
amount necessary to erect the building, '
about three-fourths has been raised and
work will be resumed on it about March
1. Geo. A. Shipp, formerly secre
tary of the city Y. M. C. A., has been 8
in the field for some two months In the
Interest of the college association and a
the building, and his efforts have pPoven
very successful. Mr. Shipp will remain
with the work until the building is com

association to complete the building free
from debt. A slight revision of the plans
has been made ami another story will i
be added to serve for dormilcry rooms \
for students desiring special accommo- i
dations. More space will be devoted to \
Bible study, mission study and commit- i
tee rooms. Arrangements will be made '
for a small kitchen in the basement for 1
the preparation of luncheons and recep- s
tions on special occasions. It is hoped 1
that the hall may be completed and
ready for occupancy by next September.
