MRS. M. V. IRVINE.
Mrs. Margaret Venable Irvine de
parted this life at the home of her
niece, Miss Mary Belle Hughes, of
Dallas, Texas, at four o'clock on the
afternoon of October the 27th, 1922,
in the eighty-seventh year of her age,
having been born at Wheatland, her
father's manor house in Mecklenburg
County, Virginia, on the seventeenth
day of December, 1835. She was the
daughter ot Dr. Paul C. and Emily
Carrington Venable, and was brought
up in e. deeply pious atmosphere, as
her father was a ruling elder in the
Presbyterian Church, and reared his
children in the nurture and admonl
tlon of the Lord.
Soon after the close of the Civil
War she was united in marriage to
Captain Jesse Irvine, of Bedford
County, Va? a gallant Confederate
soldier, who suffered the loss of a
limb in the defense of his country,
and their home near Evington, in
