r-NOT A LAXATIVE
Campbell County, was, for many years,
a centre of religious influence that
was felt far beyond the confines of
their own community.
The gentle Huguenot blood in her
veins mingling with that of the Cav
alier produced in her that loftiness
of ideal and firmness of purpose,
coupled with that sweetness of spirit
and innate kindliness and courtesy,
that won the hearts of those with
whom she came in contact, and tended
to lift them up to the same high plane
upon which she lived. She, like her
Master, lived to serve, and was never
happier than when she was lending a
helping hand to some one in need of
her aid and sympathy. She was an
ardent patriot, and during the great
World War, she knit scores of helmets
an<^ sweaters for our soldier boys
across the seas in France.
She was laid to rest in the quiet
cemetery beside the grave of her sis
ter; her nephews were her pall-bear
ers, and a large concourse of rela
tives and friends were present to bear
their tribute of love and honor to this
saint of God. She had lived out a
long and useful life. She was ready
to go, then ?
Why should we grieve, for her estate
In regions of eternal bliss.
Is more to be chosen than the weight
Of cares in this.
She's gone before, not lost indeed:
Take comfort, oh! thou sorrowing
heart.
A loving Saviour felt her need
From thee to part.
Soon, too, our burdens we'll lay down.
Our every cross deserted lie;
And then, with her, we'll wear the
crown
In immortality.

farm, near Williamsburg, Va. The
end came suddenly and, because o{
her age, was not unexpected. Her
zealous devotion to the church and
her loving faith in her Master made
her a striking example of piety.
Though compelled by years of infirm
ity to remain indoors, she most sweet
ly awaited the summons home, never
once complaining.
Mrs. Schenck was born in Dayton,
N. J., on May 8, 1836. She was jnar
ried to Wm. B. Schenck on Septem
ber 15, 1854, a most honored elder,
who preceded her to the heavenly
home about ten years. She had the
distinction of being charter member
in three Presbyterian Churches ? Cross
Rroads Church, located in Dayton, N.
J.; Williamsburg Church, at Williams
a
burg, Va., and York River Church, five
miles from Williamsburg. She is sur
vived by two daughters, Miss Grace E.
Schenck, of Williamsburg, and Mrs.
