GOING WEST.
Many Emigrants Leaving for
Texas.
MANY LEFT YESTERDAY.
Several Farmers Casting Their
Lots in the Lone Star
State.
City Ticket agent Smith, of the E. T.
V. & G. R. R., sold twenty-five tickets to
Texas yesterday.
Tbe tickets were bought by a party of
emigrants, who are going west to make
their homes. Twelve of the party were
from Holland, and the remainder from
Leesburg, Ala.
I' will be remembered that there was
qu tea fl iw to'he west la t fa 1, and
ir seems that it has by no means stopped
In tbe past week or two many families
have pulled up stakes and left for the
west, and many more are on the eve ot
going.
Tne hard times and glowing descrip
tion of tbe west have caused this, bu>
there are other reasons, as one of the
emigrants told a Tbibune reporter.
S od he:
“ I kings have got so we just must
st p 'his credit business. That’s wba>
his been tbe matter with the farmers,
and lam going to stop it. I have tried
it here, bur find that as long as I ca>
give si cu'ity I cannot help from taking
it. I believe I can make money if I let
credit alone, and I am going somewhere
wbe e I can’t get it. I know a ot ot
psop'e.w.bo went to Texas and came
back and said this was the b st country,
but lam going to tty it. I haven’t much
money, but I’m going to make a crop
out itere with it.”
Capr, J. J. Seay says he knows of
m«ny who have g< ne and are going, ai d
says tbe number is just as great as las'
fall. S-v rai families are going to carry
their stock,and farm implements through
the country.
A ’ravebng man talking yesterday
stated that be was on a train with seventy
five t e other day going from North Ala
bama. He said tbe conduc or to'd him
that just as many come back in the
spring as left in tbe fall.

All who expect to witress this play to
night shoo'd read the Herald’s notice of
the ac'ort< and play:
“The audience was large, and when
the curtain rolled down on the last ac 1
all felt that, they had witnessed an even
ing of a lifetime, which they will evei
recount with interest. Mr. Morrison ie
the great actor he is repu'ed to be. As
Met>hi-to, the Satanic majesty, he look
upon viitue’sfad ar d love’s ti iumph wvb
impish glee, and ci.nningly ensnares 'he
tw-iin down the pay descent which leads
to’he tortures of hell. He is a polishso
■sc’or, with a voice clear and beautifully
controlled, and a remarkably distinc
• unciation. His facial expressions ar>
good, rhe serious look of dismay at feat
of tadure alternating with the smile ot
imuisb delight at success in his delivery.
“ The play was superbly staged. Th’
Church scene and the singing within, and
the cbimmg bells, announcing the time
for seivice, were strikingly real.Stic. The
elec’rio i ffec’s were all that fancy conic
