Zadkiel, the London astrologist, in his
“Voice of the Stars,’’ thus forcasts Oct
1896:
October the Romans placed under the
protection of Mars, whose house Scor
pio, the sun, now enters. Ou the 19th
day the Roman army assembled, and
the Armilustrium festival was 1 eld. O ;

In short lengths—they are the

the 21st, this year, the sun forms the
trine aspect with Mars, and this being
the anniversary of the battle of TrafaL
ger, should be celebrated with unwonted
honor by Britons. At a time of uneasi
ness like this we should should show the
world how we honor our heroes. Saturn
forms the quartile aspect on the 3d inst.,-
with the place of the solar eclipse of the
9th of August, from seventeen
degress 3 minutes of the sign Scorpio,
but a few hours after Jupiter forms the
opposition aspect with the place of the
lunar eclipse of the 23d of August. This
singular coincidence cannot fail to be
quickly followed by shakings of the
“pld and crazy earth.” in southern
Europe, the vicinity of Rome, Japan
and the Indian Archipelago Saturn
also brings trouble and loss to those who
were born on or near’ the 9th of No
vember, for he transits the place of the
sun at their birth and creeps along to
wards conjunction with Uranus. The
entry of Jupiter into the sign of Virgo
tends to a more peaceful condition of
the affairs of Turkey than has obtained
for many months past. It will be
well for Europe if the eastern question
can be satisfactorily settled under this
happy influence, of which diplomatists
would be quick to take advantage if
they were wise enough to study astrolo
gy instead of despising it. Railways
will do better this month. There will
be a sad prevalence to women and chil
dren, and scandalous crime, for Venus
joins Saturn in the fifth house at the
new moon. The 4th, 20th and 27thinst,
are favorable birthday anniversaries.
On the other hand, the 9th, loth and 23d
bring troubles of a domestic nature;
young ladies should be very circumspect
in their love affairs, or they will be de
ceived and disappointed.
Raphael, in his “Prophetic Messen
ger,’’ has the following for October:
The principal transit for the month is
that of planet Mars in the signGem’ni,
which rules London and the United
States chiefly, and threatens fires and
accidents of a serious and alarming na
ture; also an increase of crime and dar
i g robberies. The entry of Jupiter into
rhe sign Virgo Will benefit Paris and
Turkey principally, and in the latter
country will bring about beneficial and
necessary reforms. The slow motion of
Saturn and Uranus through Scorpio will
produce much sedition and many mis
fortunes in the land. Ireland and Per
sia will also suffer in many ways.

From a letter written by Rev. J. Gun
derman, of Dimondale, Mich., we are
permitted to mak§ this extract: “I have
no hesitation in recommending Dr.
King’s New Discovery, asj.he esultswere
almost m irvelous in the case of my wife.
While I was pastor of the Baptist church
at Rives Junction she was brought down
with pneumonia succeeding la grippe.
Terrible paroxysms of coughing would
last hours with little interruption, and it
seemed as if she could no’ survive them.
A friend recommended Dr. King’s New
Discovery; it was quick in its work and
highly satisfactory in results ” Trial bot

HERE IS ■SOMETHING NEW.
A Flji"gr MRchlm Attachment Enabbs

If the wheel isn’t fast enough for you,
why, fly, says the New York Journal.
It seems as though "the old fairy 'egend
of the seven league hoots would c ime
true before this century ends.
The bicycle has multiplied many fold
the the speed possible in personal loco
motion. Distance has been divided by
100.
But that isn’t enough. No week passes
blit there appears some new device, in
tended to lighten the labor and acceler
ate the speed of the wheel.
The latest of these is a bicycle flying
machine. Experiment has just been
made with this wonderful machine, and
the results, the inventor says, make or
dinary cycling seem as ancient and clilmsy
as a jolting journey in the wagons of our
grandfathers.
The man who has devised this incredi
ble machine is Charles Sigurs, a young
machinist. There is no joke about it.
He considers the bicycle flying machine
an altogether practical proposition, and
has filed application for patents to pro
tect it.
The flying machine attachment is to be
fastened to the handle bar of the bicycle.
The wings wilPbe of canvas, stretched
over aluminium frames. They will be
rectangular in shape and one will be
fastened on either side of the air cylinder
which will be in the center.
In the cylinder lies the secret of the
success of the device. It will be four
feet in length, with a diameter of fifteen
inches. It will be constructed of alumin
ium and some alloy of sufficient resistance
to allow 100 pounds pressure of compress
ed air to the square inch.
Before the wheelman starts out the air
will be pumped in, and the inventor de
clares that when the cylinder is filled the
buoyancy will counteract the weight of
the apparatus, and render the propulsion
of the wheel perfectly easy.
There is nothing that causes womea
greater discomfort and misery than con
stantly recurring headache. Men suffer
with headache. “My wife’s health was
very indifferent, having headache con
tinually, and just two packages of Sim
mons Liver Regulator released her from
all headache and gave tone and vigor to
her whole system, I have never regret
ted its use. M. B. Daßord, Mt. Ver

that time he talked five hours, slept
five hours, traveled eleven hours, and
took three hours for eating and shak

me out of the house in twenty-four hours.
I took to my bed with Rheumatism nine
mouths ago and the “Mystic Cure” is the
only medicine that did any good. I had
five of the best physicians in the city, but
received very little relie. roin them. I
