Bottled Up!
Whether in the form of pill powder
■or liquid, the doctor’s prescription for
blood diseases is always the same—
mercury or potash. These drugs bottle
up and poison and dry it up in the
system, but they also dry up the marrow
in the bones at the same time.
The supplefiess and elasticity of the
joints give way to a stiffness, the rack
ing pains of rheumatism. The form
. gradually bends, the bones ache, while
decrepitude and helplessness prema

it is but a short step to a r'-.ir qf

GEORGIA’S GOLD COMING OUT.
Chlorination Process of Extraction Cause a
Revival of Mining.
Prior to the California gold excitement
in 1849, no state in the Union produced
as much gold per annum as Georgia,
and ever since the war it has headed the
list of gold-producing states in tbe Ap
palachin gold, producing ia 1882 gold
valued at $254,500; but for several rea
sons the product of Georgia began to
decrease about twelve or fifteen years
ago, and it has continued to do so until
within the past two years, when reac
tion began. One of the loading causes
that contributed to the decrease in the
gold output of Georgia was that until
quite recently no process was known by
which the gold-bearing sulphide ores
could be saved, and as soon as a miner
would come to the sulphides, he would
almost immediately abandon the vein,
howeverjich it might be.
Sinc6 the chlorination process of ex
traction has proved so satisfactory in
saving the gold from the refractory ores
of this and the adjoining states, these
abandoned veins have greatly enhanced
in value, for the sulphide ores give much
higher assay values than the free-milling
ores. Since the reaction began in this
state, two years ago, activity has been
steadily increasing. Many western min
ing men have visited the state with a
view to investments in its gold fields,
and some have already beguu gwork.
English capital, looking for investment,
has also found its way into the state,
and, were it not-for the unsettled finan
cial condition of tbe country-at-lar. ;e
much larger and more numerous invest
ments would have been made.
So far as has been ascertained, tbe
gold fields of Georgia lie in certain nar
row belts running northeast and south
west, in the geologcial formation known
as the Crystalline belt, which includes
nearly all that position lying north of a
line passing from .Augusta through Ma
con to Columbus.
