REACH CHICKAMAUGA
Fifth frginbnt Reached Rs Destination
at Last.
HAD A LONG TRIP THROUGH COUNTRY
They Will Remain in Camp Two Weeks, and
Then March Back to Fort
* McPherson.
The hardest day’s march the Fifth
Infantry has yet had was that of yes
terday. says the Atlanta Constitution:
They were carried over the mountain
routes and through the ravines until
they showed the fatigue of the trip
for the first time. •
The weather was very cool in the
high altitudes they passed through,
but the climbing of the roads winding
arouud the sides of the steep Blue
Ridge made them sigh for more level
ground. The mules and horses which
carried the wagon train suffered from
the difficult passage and they were
willing to stop for a rest at the first
intimation.
The regiment camped at Ringgold
last night and they will continue the
line of march today. They expect to
arrive at Chickamauga before night
fall, and although it is not as. many
miles as they covered vn the more lev
el route, it will take them nearly the
entire day to cover the short inter
vening distance between them and
the place for their permanent camp.
They will go entirely over one whole
range of the Blue Ridge system of
mountains in north Georgia and will
make good time going down. The na
tural surface of the land in the national
.park is such, they say, as will be especi
ally adapted for them and they expect
■to have one of the prettiest camps that
has ever been placed in that vicinity.
They will remain there for nearly
two weeks before starting on tfcie home
ward march. They will recuperate
the long walk they have nad ani (
for another of the same kind (
They will enjoy themselves during their
stay and explore the country for a long ,
distance in all directions. I
The officers will have many visitors '
and will entertain in real army style. 1
They will in return be extended every 1
attention from the people near there and
in the neighboring cities and towns.
The men will be given every privilege
to reap the from the
stay and they will tread the mountains
for many miles.

In Memory of Junius A. George-Passed By
The Pansy Sunday Schopl.
Junius A. George, our beloved superin
tendent, rests from his labors; God has
bidden him come up higher. He will
meet us no more on Sabbath morning.
We will miss his kind glance and out
strecthed hand, that always welcomed
us - But we know, he has entered on
that beautiful, eternal Sabbath, promised
to the followers of the Master. He sees
the “King in His Beauty,” He rejoices
before the great white throne. Fur in
this life he walked in the Savior’s foot
steps. Our hearts are heavy with sorrow.
He, will never know sorrow again.
First. Be it resolved. We cherish the
memory of his loving, faithful, labors in
our Sabbath School; his ministerings to
the distressed; his zeal for God. and the
salvation of souls.
Second. That his example as a chns -
taio, neighbor, church member, teacher,
in all family relations; his diligence in
IGNORANCE in regard to
paint materials or painting
v^ seem in this age to be in
excusahle, when full information

Third. That his self sacrificing devo

1 of duty, we have an example, worthy of
all imitation: for he gladly answered
every call of our Master, and truly, he

shall be satisfied when I awake with thy

well,
According to a celebrated anatomist
there are upwards of 5,000,000 little
glands in the human stomach. These
glands pour out the digestive juices
which dissolve or digest the food. In
digestion is want of juice, weakness Df
glands, need of help to restore the health
of these organs The best and most
natural help is that- given by Shaker
Digestive Cordial. Natural, because it
supplies the materials needed by the
glands to prepare the digestive juices.
Because it strengthens and invigorates
the glands and the stomach, until they
are able to do their work alone. Shaker
Digestive Cordial cures indigestion cer
tainly and permanently. It does so by
natural means and therein lies the secret
of its wonderful and unvaried success.

GEORGIA’S KLONDIKE
Bauxite Mines In This Section are the Rich-'
est In the World.
White the people' of the gold fields
of Georgia are making a great flourish
of trumpets at the recent discoveries
and the promise of rich development
in that line there is an unostentatious
Klondike of a different variety in
another section, says the Constitu
tion. During the present year the
output of bauxite from Georgia has
been remarkable. Up in Bartow,
where this essence of aluminum* is
found in rich deposits, the yield 'for
the past few months has been very
great. Almost a train load goes out
every week and is carried on to Pitts
burg to be made into aluminum-
The development of North Georgia
in this line will be as notable as th»

Rev. Sam F. Jones Falls Off Electric in
Kansas City.
Rev. Sam P.'Jones had a narrow es
cape from a serious accident in Kan

Cartersville News. He attempted to
alight from a moving electric car.
When bis foot slipped and he was
thrown heavily to the pavement. For
tunately the car was moving only at
a fair rate of speed, and Mr. Jones
did not sustain any injury from the
fall. His friends will be glad to hear
that he escaped unhurt, and will be
ready for his birthday dinner next

Queer Kinds of Fuel.
In southern California, in the peach
districts, peach stones are not uncom
monly used as fuel. They are sold at
the canneries by the wagon load. Peach
stones burn freely and make a very good
fire.
Ou the homeward voyage of vessels
in the cocoanut trade cocoanuts are used
for fuel, as they are also while the ves
sel is lying at her’wharf discharging
not sound nuts, but such as are decayed
and not salable. • The nuts are broken

o TSE SPECIAL COMMITTEE.
To the State Institute ’ For the Deaf at
Cave Spring.
{ Gov. Atkinson recently appointed
j a special committee of prominent
e Georgians to visit the state school for
the Deaf in Cave Spring, and report
such findings as they might think
1 wise and helpful, saytf the Cedartpwn
y Standard.
Tais committee is composed of Col.
A. Richardson, of Cedarton, CoL
y David W. Metdow, of Danielsville,
I Mr. W. H. Daniel, of Franklin, Col.
e John Attaway, of Canton, Mr. Ira E.
Farmer, of Thomson, and Dr. W. H,
y Burt, of Dawsonville.
< This committee visited Cave Spring
last week, and made a thorough ex
amination of everything—houses,
| grounds, rules, health and every con
t ditlon Incident to the management of
” the inslitution A careful inquiry in
-3 to all the moneys expended on this
- branch of state institutions, and how
1 all appropriations were applied to im
’ provements, was made by this com
f mittee.
t Col. A. Richardson was made chair
> man, and Cpl. Dave Meadow secre-
’ tary. The report soon to be made to
, the governor will be highly compli
: mentary to Prof. W. O. Connor and
- the management. Perhaps no insti
' tution of this kind in America has a
more accomplished executive * head
► than this one, and none are copied
after more than Georgia’s model
school for the deaf and dumb.
Col. Richardson, who is writing
the report for the committee, speaks
in terms most ’complementary to this
'ward of the state, and says that the
successful management and wonder
ful attainments rsade the pupite in
Cave Spring should be a matter of
pride to the great state that main
tains the school.

Since the return of Bishop C. K. :

atter of dividing the dteeeee into
J two parishes has been widely discussed
■: and during the past few days many
■ rumors have been current concerning

I As is well known the idea of* drvrd- !
ing the diocese first originated with
Bishop Nelson. He advocated - the di
vision and it met with favor at the
hands of his parishioners. He stated
however, when he first mentioned the
matter that it was bis intention to
leave the question, entirely with the
people, and with this object in view a
committee was appointed to investi
gate and report upon the advisability
of the scheme.
“Yes,l believe the plan to be a good
one,” said Bishop Nelson. “When I
first proposed the scheme I believed
it would result in much good to the
diocese and since-studying the matter
further I have not varied from that
1 opinion.”

The town of Ithaca overlook® a great

1 of Cayuga lake, which is about 40 miles

- the railroads makes many turns, and
1 this fact has given rise to an amusing
story.
■ A stranger, coming to Ithaca by rail,
caught sight of the city set on a hill iu
the distance and asked a fellow passen
ger, “What city is that?”
“Ithaca,” the other responded. Ina
few moments the city disappeared from
view and after awhile appeared again,
but, as it seemed to the stranger, in a
different direction, the railroad having
made a curve.
“What city is that?” he asked again.
“That is Ithaca. ”
Once more the place disappeared and
in due time came into view again, ap
parently somewhere else.
“What city is that?” he asked again.
“That is Ithaca. ”
The stranger gave a whistle and look
