ditched. Mr. Pavlovki having only
one leg could not control himself so
as to catch and consequently fell, his
foot being caught between the spring
and axl., Had the horse moved his

sibly have killed him. As it is he is

TAX-PAYER PROTESTS,
I
Portion of the Fifth Ward Has no Water '
Privileges.
Editor Tribune There is a section
of the Fifth ward in the city of Rome con
taining a population of about 250 which ■
does not enjoy city water privileges and
has no fire protection whatever.
It happens that in this paiticular sec- 1
tion it is difficult to obtain water by dig
ging so that these people are now buying
water at so much per barrel and, also, (
paying city taxes. The city of Home has
recently spent hundreds of dollars in a .
little smallpox sc.re, but it seems that it
cannot or will not pay for laying a lew
hundred yards of pipe.
Rome furnishes water to an adjoining
corporation, why does she not do as well
by her own people?
A question arises just here: Can the
city legally levy taxes upon a section
Which does not receive the benefits of a
city? Respectfully,
Taxpayer,
Todd has more bargains to
the square inch than any
merchant in Rome.

Next Thursday is Thanksgiving, and

here and cannot unite with Dr. Headden
and Dr. Goetchius.
Dr. Goetchius will preach the sermon
at 11 o’clock, and it is probable that 8
very large congregation will be present.
The choir will have an especially fine
program for the day. The members of
the choir are Misses Cora Clark and May
Belle Black, Messrs. Horace E. King and
H. D. Cothran, Mrs. C. E. McLin,
organist.
A collection will be taken up, which
will be donated to the Emergency
hospital.
