FIRST BAPTIST AND ST, PETERS
Children Made Happy By Each Receiving
a Preient—Two Large and Beauti
ful Trees.
A unique Christmas tree entertainment
was given by the infant class of the Suns
day school of the First Baptist church
last night.
It was planned and directed by Miss
Battie Shropshire who deserves much
p-aise. She was assisted by Mesdamea
W. S. McHenry, H. P. Childers and J.
M. Lay.
The Sunday school room was crowded
to its utmost capacity with people, and
all greatly enjoyed the exercises. The
program was very lengthy consisting of
songs and recitations by the little chil
dren. Among the best features were the
following:
Solo—Miss Beulah Adamson, aged
6 years.
Recitation—Edith O’Rear, aged 5.
Song—Addie Lou Lay, aged 6.
Recitation—“Ella’n Umbrella,” Gather
ine McDonald, aged 6.
Recitation—‘‘Telegrams sent to God,’’
Marion Childers, aged 5.
Solo and Chorus—Battie S. Griggs,
Hayden Childers and Sarah Woodruff.
Several chorus songs were rendered by
the infant class which were heartily ap
plauded.
As Mrs. Santa Claus, a splendid and
most amusing character, was made by
Miss Rosa Woodruff. She held an
imaginary conversation by telephone with
Santa Claus commenting on each recita
tion, etc.
The entertainment concluded with
the appearance of old Santa Claus,
who gave each child a present from
the Christinas tree.
At St. Peter’s Church.
At St. Peter's church the Sunday
school children had a Christmas tree
yesterday afternoon. A number of
songs were sung and Rev. C. B. Hud
gins made an appropriate address.
The Christmas tree was a beautiful
one, and each child was given a pres
ent by the committee of ladies and
gentlemen in charge.

HOW TO FIND OUT.
Fill a bottle or common glass with
urine and let it stand twenty.four
hours; a sediment or settling indicates
an unhealthy condition of the kidneys.
When urine stains linen it is evidence
of kidney trouble. Too frequent de
sire to urinate or pain in the back is
also convincing proof that the kid
neys and bladder are out.of order.
WHAT TO DO
There is comfort in the knowledge
so often expressed that Dr. Kilmer's
Swamp Root, the great kidney remedy
fulfills every wish in relieving pain in
the back, kidneys, liver, bladder and
every part of the urinary passages. It
corrects inability to bold urine and
scalding pain in passing it, or bad ef
fects following use of liquor, wine or
beer, and overcomes that unpleasant
necessity of being compelled to get up
many times during the night to urin
ate. The mild and the extraordinary
effect of Swamp Root is soon realized.
It stands the highest for its wonder
ful cures of the most distressing cases.

Sarsaparilla
Sense.
Any sarsaparilla is sarsapa
rilla. True. So any tea is tea.
So any flour is flour. But grades
differ. You want the best. It’s
so with sarsaparilla. There are
grades. You want the best If
you understood sarsaparilla as
well as you do tea and flour it
would be easy to determine.
But you donY. How should
you? When you are going to
buy a commodity whose value
you don’t know, you pick out
an old established house to
trade with, and trust their ex
perience and reputation. Do so
when buying sarsaparilla.
Ayer’s Sarsaparilla has been

How to Prevent Pneomonia.
At this time of the year a cold is very
easily contracted, and if left to run its
course without the aid of some reliable
cough medicine is liable to result in that
dread disease, pneumonia. We know of
no better remedy to cure a cough or cold
than Chamberlain’s Cough Remedy.
We have used it quite extensively and
it has always given entire satisfaction.
—Olagah, Ind. Ter. Chief.
This is the only remedy that is known
to be a certain preventive of pneumonia.
Among the many thousands who have
used it for colds and la grippe, we have
never yet learned of a single case having
resulted in pneumonia. Persons who
have weak lungs or have reason to fear
an attack of pneumonia, should keep
the remedy at band. The 25 and 50

MR. DOWNING COMING
111 a Great Play Entitled “Samson and
Delilah.”
Mr. Robert Downing, whose versa
tile talents have given him a com
manding position on the American
stage, will appear next Monday even

the Biblical dramatization of “Sam
son and Delilah. ”
W
ROBERT DOWNING.
Mr. Downing conld not have made
a more fitting selection of a play in
which to appear for bis special qual
ifications to find in the leading role
something peculiarly sympathetic.
He is possessed of qualities of mind
and attribues of person that 'make
him singularly adaptable in his class
ioal roles.
In the company surrounding Mr.
Downing this season are many well
known and experienced players. All
his scenic environments have been
specially prepared for this tour, and
no pains have been spared to make it
one long to be remembered.
Robert Downing has always been
known for two things: The perfec
tion of detail which characterizes all
bis productions, and the never failing
excellence of his company, which is
always selected with the nicest dis
crimination. This season it is said
that in both these particulars the
tragedian has well-nigh eclipsed his
former efforts, and bis coming appear
ance at the opera house is being looked
forward to with great deal of pleasure.
Prices will not be advanced for this
enjoymeat though the management
guarantees one of the greatest treats
of the season.
