There Will Be No Starvation.
Victoria, B. 0., Dec. 28.—The steamer
Tees from Skaguay brought down five
Klondikers, Richard Shaw of Victoria,
who left Dawson on Nov. 16, and three
other Victorians and T. Hanby, who
Started on their tramp Oct. 27. The
party leaving on the latter date ran out
of provisions at Fort Selkirk and had to
beg their way along, getting food at dif
ferent camps or when it was not to bo
had, living on anything they could
shoot. Shaw came out by dog train,
leaving Dawson after the ice formed.
He passed 5U men along the river
bound outward. They were all coming
along with just enough food to last
them. At Stewart river 43 outfits bound
for Dawson were frozen iu. Two of
the three rafts of beef, which were’ on
the bars just above Dawson, were car
ried down the river right past the town
by the floating ice.
On the night of Nov. 15 Jim Cary’s
saloon, at Dawson, was robbed of $20,-
000. Ed Lord, the bartender, and two
other men were arrested. At Fort Sel
kirk a man named Keeler was robbed
of SB,OOO. Ed Jackson was arrested on
suspicion.
A report reached Dawson of a rich
strike make on "43 below” on “Hun
ker creek. ” The di t went $3 to the
pan and there were 5 feet of gravel.
Dominion creek is also turning out well.
Americans complain bitterly of having
to pay duty on their oututs at Tagish
lake.
J. W. McKay, who left Dawson on
Nov. 13, reached Skaguay before the
steamer Tees left. It is stated that he
brought out $75,000 in dus% Shaw says
none of the men on the trails will get
down until the ice goes out in the
spring. Just before he left claim own
ers reduced wages from sls to $lO per
day and men were threatening to go on
a strike.
Speaking of the food situation at
Dawson, Shaw stated that food was
scarce, but that the men now there have
enough to last them through the win
ter. There'are a number of men along
the trails who are not very will pro
vided.

This is a disorder from which few women
escape at some period of their lives. It la
in the nature of nasal catarrh. In a healthy

Menstrual Irregularities.
Puberty is the period when menstruation
is established. It is the time when the girl
becomes a woman, and also the time from
which many female diseases date. The
menstrual flow usually continues from three
to six days and comes on about every
twenty-eight days. The quantity exuded
varies from two to eight ounces, but the
amount consistent with the health of one
person may be excessive and weakening in
another. The function is regarded as being
regular when its effect upon the system is
favorable. The departures from healthy
menstruation are numerous and should be
corrected by using Dr. Simmons Squaw
Vine Wine.
