TIME TO FILE YOUR REAL
PROPERTY TAX RETURN
It is time for taxpayers to file property tax returns. In Toombs
County, the time for filing returns is January 1 through April
1. The tax return is a listing of property owned by the taxpayer

The taxpayer may elect not to file a property tax return if
there have been no changes that would affect the value of
their property from the previous year.

automatic renewal of that return each succeeding year at the
value finally determined for the preceding year. The taxpayer
is required to file a new return only as additional property
is acquired, improvements are made to existing property, or
other changes occur.

The Vidalia High
School wrestling team
had wrestlers take part in
two different tourna
ments over the holiday
week. Some wrestlers
traveled to Kissimmee,
FL to wrestle in the
Knockout Christmas
Classic at Silver Spurs
Area. Others went to the
Hook'Em Holiday Clash
at Lambert High School
in Suwanee.
The Indians had
good showings at both
events with Tom Godbee
and Jalin Burns placing
in Florida with Hunter
Manning just outside
placing. The Knock Out
Classic is one of the
toughest tournaments in
all of the southeast.
Godbee took third
place at 197 lbs. Godbee
won his third place
match over Ryan Cody
from The Master's Acad
emy by a 4-1 decision.
At 287 lbs. Burns
took fourth place. He fell
in the third place match
to Ethan Vergara of Ma
ter Lakes Academy by a
close 3-2 decision.
Manning also had a
good showing as he was
2-2 in the tournament
and finished just outside
the podium.
VHS Coach Bobby
Blount said, “This is the
toughest tournament in
the southeast and it cer
tainly lived up to the
hype. It was an honor to
compete against some of
the greatest high school
wrestlers in the nation.”
At the Hook'Em
Holiday Clash at Lam
bert VHS again had
wrestlers that had good
performances. This tour

of the best wrestlers in
the state and gave VHS
an opportunity to com

Willingham finished
third.The team got lots
of mat time in the duals

PERS ONAL PROPERTY TAX RETURN S AND FREEPORT
EXEMPTION APPLICATIONS FOR 2021
Taxpayers are required to file at least an initial tax return for taxable
personal property owned on January 1 of the tax year. In Toombs

returns are filed with the Toombs County Board of Assessors’ office.
The forms are available in the office or at www.qpublic.net/ga/toombs/
forms.
The tax return is a listing of personal property owned by the taxpayer
and the taxpayer's declaration of the value of the personal property. Once
the initial tax return is filed, the law provides for an automatic renewal
of that return each succeeding year at the value finally determined for
the preceding year. The taxpayer is required to file a new return only
as additional personal property is acquired, improvements are made to
existing property, or other changes occur. A new return, filed during the
return period, may also be made by the taxpayer to declare a different
value from the existing value where the taxpayer is dissatisfied with
the current value placed on the personal property by the Board of Tax
Assessors.
Freeport Exemption Applications may also be filed from January
1 through April 1 in order to receive the maximum exemption on
qualifying inventory. If you have any questions, you may contact Rene

NOTICE: Business inventory must still be reported. In November, 2010 Georgia
voters approved exempting all inventory of a business from state ad valorem
tax. However, this does not exempt inventory from local (county, city, school,
etc.) taxes. Businesses that fail to timely report inventory will be subject to
appropriate penalties.
