Mrs. Jewel Griner
Mrs. Jewel “Bert” Gri
ner, age 92, of Lyons, died
on Sunday, January, 10,
2021.
Mrs. Griner was a na
tive of Tattnall County
and was a 1947 graduate of
Collins High School. She
was an entrepreneur with a
heart for children. In 1958,
she opened Tiny Tots Kin
dergarten on South Vic
tory Drive in Lyons. She
later moved her business
to its well known location
on Columbia Avenue. Here
she expanded to add The
Gingerbread House Day
care and Nursery. She was
an early childhood educator
for over 60 years and retired
at age 88. She was a member
of the First Baptist Church
of Lyons, where she taught
Sunday School to children
for several years. She served
in music ministry at several
churches in the area. Most
recently, she led worship at
Pinegrove Primitive Baptist
Church and Rome Primi
tive Baptist Church, both
in Reidsville. She served in
this capacity until age 87.
She was preceded in death
by her husband, Benjamin
W. Griner; her parents, Rev.
R.H. Kennedy, Sr., and Ma
bel Waters Kennedy all 12
of her siblings; and several
nieces and nephews.
Survivors include 2
daughters, Linda (David)
Moran of Vidalia, and Ma
bel (Greg) Williamson of
Reidsville; 5 grandchil
dren, Candi (Kelly) New
ton, Todd Padgett, Nicolas
(Pam) Worthy, Jared (Kel
ley) Worthy and Benjamin
Worthy; 12 great-grandchil
dren; and many nieces and
nephews.
A private funeral ser
vice was held on Wednes
day, January 13, 2021, at
3:00 p.m., at Ron Hall Fu
neral Home, with Christian
Jay and Rev. Kelly Newton
officiating. A graveside ser
vice for friends and family
took place at 4:00 p.m. at
Lakeview Memorial Gar
dens in Vidalia.

Ethan Worthy, Lyndon

Mr. Noah Boyette
Mr. Noah Dale Boyette,
age 59, of the Five Points
Community of Soperton,
died on Friday, January 15,
2021, at Meadows Regional
Medical Center.
Mr. Boyette was born
in Chatham County and
moved to Treutlen County
at the age of ten. He was a
1979 graduate of Treutlen
County High School. He
worked at Soperton Manu
facturing and the Woolen
Mill for a short time before
starting a long career in
the trucking industry. He
drove for Piggly Wiggly for
14 years before hauling for
Handi-House in Swains-
boro for a short time. In
the late 1990s, he launched
Boyette Trucking, which
grew into a major trucking
company transporting con
tainers to various locations
throughout the southeast
ern United States. He was
a member of the Holton
Chapel Advent Christian
Church since childhood.
He was preceded in death
by his mother, Ronella
R. Poole Boyette; and his
mother-in-law, Kathleen
Page Love.
Survivors include his
wife of 36 years, Kathy Love
Boyette, Soperton; 2 daugh
ters, Katie Cagle (Andy),
Soperton, and Jodie Wallis
(Josh), Reidsville; 2 grand
daughters, Evie Wallis and
Maddie Rose Walks; his
father, Noah A. Boyette,
Soperton; 1 sister, Mela
nie Wickstrom (Randy); 2
brothers, Darren Boyette
and Brian Boyette (Becky),
all of Soperton; his father-
in-law, George Leon Love,

Holton Chapel Cemetery.

Mr. Villegas grew up in
Edinburg, TX, and moved
to Toombs County in the
early 1990s. He started
his career in law enforce
ment in 2000 with the Ly
ons Police Department,
served briefly with the Oak
Park Police Department.
He began serving with the
Alamo Police Department
in 2019. He was preceded
in death by his parents, Je

Mrs. Patricia Memory
Gillis, age 88, of Vidalia,
died on Saturday, January
16, 2021, at the Commu
nity Hospice House in Vi-
dalia.
Mrs. Gillis was a native
of the Kibbee Community
in Montgomery County, a
1948 graduate of Kibbee
High School and made Vi
dalia her home since 1952.
She was a homemaker
and a member of the First
Baptist Church of Vidalia
and the Winsome Sunday
School Class. She was the
last survivor of the Bob-

She was preceded in death

Mr. Harold Braun
Harold Norwood
Braun, 85, went to be with
his Lord and Savior on
Tuesday, December 29,
2020, at his home in Eman
uel County.
Harold was born on
August 16, 1935, to the
late Milton and Lela Braun.
He attended high school
in Savannah, where he was
a member of the boxing
team. After
high school,
he joined the
Marine Re
serves and
moved to Lib
erty County. He was also
one of the original board
members of the Georgia
Sheriff’s Boys Ranch. He
lived in Liberty County for
several years, finally settling
in Emanuel County.
Many knew Harold
through his business ven
tures, which included car
sales, real estate, and at one
time a recording studio.
As a real estate developer,
he developed Lake Gale, a
250-acre lake located in east
Liberty County. He enjoyed
all that coastal Georgia had
to offer. He particularly
enjoyed fishing, crabbing,
shrimping, cooking, and
eating his catch. In addi
tion to being an inventive
and skilled entrepreneur,
Harold took great joy in
learning. He was a student
of all subjects, ranging from
archeology to medicine. A
true renaissance man, his
family and friends will re
member him as a creative
chef, skilled musician, and
a gifted storyteller who en
chanted his children, grand
children, and their friends
with tales of improbable
characters and their imagi
native worlds.
Harold was preceded
in death by his beloved wife
of 62 years, Sybil Whitfield
Braun; and three broth
ers, Leon Braun, Sr., James
Braun, Sr., and Robert
“Bobby” Braun.
He is survived by two
daughters, Gayle Kasten-
bauer (John) and Terri
Braun; four grandchildren,
John, Alyson, Caroline, and
Cameron; brother, Richard
E. Braun, Sr., (Libby); and
many nieces and nephews.

urday, January 2, 2021, at
Midway United Methodist
Church Cemetery.
