Indians Win Rumble
Vidalia High School
competition cheerleading
wrapped up their regular
season with a win at
Swainsboro's Rumble in
the Jungle last weekend.
Up next for VHS is
the 2021 Region Compe
tition held at Parsons-
Reid Gymnasium this
Saturday
Online tickets will be
available on Feb 3 at vi-
daliaathletics.com. The
Indians will compete in
the 12:00 p.m. event and
are first out for Region
2AA.

VHS Swimmers Heading To State
Two Vidalia High
School swimmers have
qualified for the Georgia
High School Association
(GHSA) State Swimming
and Diving Champion
ship. The event will take
place February 2-6 at
Georgia Tech. In order to
qualify a swimmer must
swim a qualifying time
within the high school’s
regular season.
Senior Jackson Craw
ley has qualified in both
the 50 freestyle and the
100 freestyle. This is
Jackson’s 3rd year quali
fying for the State Meet.
Last year, he placed 15th
overall in the 50 freestyle.
VHS swimmers compete
against swimmers in A-
AAA. In AA alone, Jack-
son placed 3rd.
Jackson began swim
ming in Georgia Recre
ation and Parks Associa
tion's (GRPA) summer
swim team season 7 years
ago. He swam all four
years with the high school
team while staying active
in GRPA during the sum
mer winning many 1st
place medals along the
way.
Junior Conley Brown
has qualified for this
year’s GHSA State Cham
pionship in the 50 free
style. This is Con
ley’s second high school
season and her 2nd year
qualifying for the State
Meet. She began swim
ming at the age of 7
and has competed for 10
years with GRPA’s sum
mer team. Conley was the
2019 GRPA Class B girls
15-18 State Champion in
the 50 freestyle.
Both swimmers have
trained with Coach Rob
Hilton for the entirety of
their career. Hilton has
coached them in
both GHSA and
GRPA seasons.

The Montgomery
County High School Ea
gles basketball team had
an interesting week with
the boys playing two
games and the girls one.
Then on Monday of this
week the Lady Eagles
played the Lady Vikings.
Boys vs. Wilcox
On Monday of last
week the Eagles
hosted Wilcox
County and
came away with
the win. Wilcox
jumped out to an
18-2 lead in the first pe
riod as the Eagles could
not get a shot to fall. In
the second, though,
MCHS came storming
back as they tied the
game at 24-24.
In the third MCHS
pulled ahead to lead 40-
33. MCHS took the win,
54-44 over the Patriots.
Boys vs. Portal
In Portal on Tuesday
the Eagles fell to the Pan
thers. Portal led the game
24-11 after the first and
were on top 39-30 at the
end of the first half of
play.
In the third period
the Panthers pushed their
lead to 60-45. Portal
pulled away and won the
game 81-61 over MCHS.
Girls vs. Telfair
The Lady Eagles
faced
off with the Lady Trojans
of Telfair County on
Wednesday in McRae
and got the close win.
Telfair led the game early
7-4 and they were up 17-
10 in the second period.
MCHS closed it to
21-19 in the third and
took the lead 33-32 late
in the fourth on their way
to a 39-35 win.
Girls vs. Treutlen
On Monday of this
week the Lady Eagles
were at Treutlen County
and ran away with a win.
MCHS took and early 7-2
lead, but Treutlen closed
that to 10-9 early in the
second period. The Ea
gles went on a run and
pulled back out to a 20-
12 lead before the end of
the half.
In the third MCHS
was up 38-20 and
they continued to
pull away in the
second half on
their way to a 59-
28 win.
The Lady Eagles are
now 10-5 on the year and
are 7-4 in the Region
while the boys are 8-9
and are 5-6 in the Region.
This week MCHS was at
Johnson County on Tues
day after presstime and
will be back in action on
Friday at Dooly County
at 6:00 p.m. and will host
Wheeler County on Sat
urday at 6:00 p.m.
RTCA Swims At State
Robert Toombs Chris
tian Academy’s swim team
competed at the GISA
State Meet on Saturday of
last week. The competi
tion was held at Georgia
Tech’s McAuley Aquatic
Center in Atlanta.
Autumn Moore,
7th grade, earned a bronze
medal in the 50-meter
freestyle and the 50-meter
breaststroke, and placed
6th in the 50-meter butter
fly. Moore also achieved a
personal record in the
50-meter freestyle and the
50-meter breaststroke.
Sixth-grader Maggie
Bowers competed in the
50-meter backstroke and
improved her qualifying
time by almost a second.
The Swim Team is
coached by Amy Bowers.

Toombs County Revolving
Loan Funds Available
The Toombs County Development Authority, on behalf of Toombs County, is cur
rently accepting preapplications for low interest funds under the Revolving Loan
Program. Successful applicants will have demonstrated new job creation/retention,
private capital investment, and provision of jobs to low and moderate income per
sons. Funds must be used only in the corporate limits of Toombs County. Eligible
activities include: acquisition of real property; acquisition, construction, recon
struction, rehabilitation, or installation of buildings; infrastructure, site improve
ments, and utilities; and commercial or industrial buildings or structures and other
commercial or industrial real property and improvements. Ineligible borrowers in
clude passive income companies, lending and investment institutions, unregulated
media, speculative ventures and charitable organizations.
